I landed at the bar, just before 4pm. Greeted & got menus & a beer ordered promptly . . took a good 10+ minutes to notice the menu was down & take my Calamari appt. order. 10 minutes later it came out, LOOKED like the what's on their website. Came with a 1/2 of a TINY ramekin of their sauce . . It ONLY had tiny, dried out, overcooked rings, ZERO of the larger chunks, but my serving was 2/3rds of the seasoned left-over breadcrumbs that had FALLEN OFF other squid & only 1/3 of the ENTIRE pile of crumbs was ACTUALLY Calamari. SO: just RENAME the dish: Calamari Bread-Crumbs, with the occasional squid rings . . for $15 bucks??
1/2 way thru the Squid, I ASKED if the bartender could bring out the ciabatta bread & she got that .. My beer went dry, was NEVER offered water, so I put my empty glass in the well & she walked by it for 15 minutes until I SHOOK it, my 37" arm EXTENDED in front of her as she passed by. Took another 5 minutes for a refill, since the place was picking up & the bartender was more focused on greedily serving the entire FOH drinks, than keeping her bar-diners happy.
went with the Sashimi Tuna appt., came out NOTHING like what is pictured, just 8 slabs of DRY, dark red Tuna that was likely cut/prepped a day before, The tuna was dry, some were thin, some thick enough . . The chunk of wasabi was DARK green, also dry & almost rock hard. I wasn't going to complain, hadn't eaten all day & she was CLEARLY too busy making drinks for the entire restaurant, I just got busy with my chopsticks & spent 3-4 minutes grinding it into the soy sauce & eventually got it dissolved . . The tuna went down ok, NO tummy issues, I stacked & Piled my dishes near the edge of the bar-well & WAITED & WAITED as my 2nd beer went dry, for her to notice I was done & bring the check.
A back-up bartender / mgr. FINALLY came out to help & I waved a few $20s in front of him, to signal for the check. SOMETHING about those green-backs, gets anyone's attention. Left $10 + change on a $45 dollar tab, well OVER 25% for lousy service + edible but lackluster food . .
I still feel kind of cheated, but I was starved & just wanted to get home & get it OVER with. BEST part, as always, was the bread with plenty of spices, but almost NO OIL, I actually had to ASK the guy next to me, if he was done with HIS dipping oil & poured some onto my dish, because there's NO WAY I'd get that refill, before N.Y. Eve.
Well, tonight had been a good 5 years since I'd been there . . Probably ANOTHER 5 years until I see if I give them...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place for years, and today I finally went with a friend. Our server, Hanna, was so sweet and helpful, we really loved her. My friend ordered the salmon and I ordered the pork chop medium well. I was surprised that most of their sides were an upgraded charge of $4 each. We both ordered the parmesan risotto for an additional $4 each. Usually risotto comes with a hint of flavor. Mushroom risotto has a hint of mushroom etc, so we expected the Parm risotto to have a hint of Parm. Wrong! There was such an overwhelming amount of cheese, that was all you could taste, even with the herbs on top. It was like getting a big plate of Parm cheese. Even my cheese loving friend didn't like it. When our meals came out Hanna saw that my pork chop was rare, so I sent it back and asked for it to be well done this time. She apologized and took it back and it was perfect when it came back out. I ordered the slaw as my second side because I didn't want to pay an additional $8 for two sides. The slaw was very meh. Actually, KFC has better coleslaw. Hanna then came back around to make sure the pork chop was done this time and saw that neither of us were eating the risotto that we paid an additional $8 for and asked us if we needed a box or if we just didn't like it. We both declared that we did not like it and did not wish to take it home. We had each only taken one bite. So she wisked the plates off the table and did not offer us anything in it's place and still charged us. I'm sure this was restaurant policy. That was the straw that broke the camel's back! I frequently eat at other restaurants with similar menu items for the same price where the food is actually good! And if there is something you don't like they promptly offer you a replacement at no charge. Not here! Our check came and they still charged us each $4 for the risotto we didn't eat. That, alone, is the reason I will never return to this restaurant. The pork chop being underdone was no big deal. Sometimes it's hard to cook a thick cut of meat. But letting me pay an upcharge on food that was not eaten and was horrible! Yeah, you've lost my business. I highly recommend Season's 52 to anyone who wants a great meal. You will be taken care of! I would like to reiterate that the server, Hanna, was phenomenal, and we left her a nice tip, over 30%, but that was for the service, not the food. The restaurant policies are not her fault. With so many options in this area, why does...
Read moreI'll start off right away by saying: "Wow." Bonefish Grill is a restaurant that specializes in seafood, but also serves some turf, as well (turf being items such as steak or chicken). I've never really had a chance at all to eat good seafood. Coming from a small town, my options were limited to Long John Silvers or Red Lobster. The former always gave me indigestion and the me was way too expensive for the quality of the food of you would get. Anyways, I was lucky to be able to try several different things here at this location! First, I do want to say the staff here is excellent. The waitress we had was a nice blonde lady who was very patient as well as encouraging. She recommended I try several different foods, as well as let me sample the various salsas. She was also very attentive to our tables needs and all around just a big sweetheart. So, we ordered several different apetizers to start off with. Mussels, spicy fried shrimp, fried calamari and pot-stickers. I never got a chance to try the mussels, but my table did devour them in no time flat, so that's probably a testament to how good they were. The spicy fried shrimp was delicious! It had this great breading on it that added texture as well as flavor to a food that I always thought had none. The calamari was also surprisingly great! Never had squid before, but this was a great jumping off point. It was fried bits that you could dip in this sauce that was amazing. I wish I knew what the sauce was exactly. Lastly, the pot-stickers. Oh, man. I could eat a ton of those things. Garnished with green onions and other tasty things, these suckers did not disappoint. Juicy and not dry at all. Even though I was stuffed, I wanted to try more! I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai as my main course. This was a great choice, in my opinion. I've never had Thai or Thai imitation food before, so this also was a great jumping off point. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the shrimp was actually juicy and whatever the sauce was, was AMAZING! I snapped a picture of the Pad Thai course and posted it here. So, as a topper, I ordered the donuts and a slice of the key lime pie as a dessert. The donuts were little fried balls of deliciousness. They came with a plate of fudge, caramel and whipped cream to dip them in. The key lime pie was also great! Not too tart but not too sweet, either. I would recommend this place with a hearty yes. If you've got spare cash (as it's a little pricy--- but worth it), go here...
