This store was recommended by our dog trainer, Nick. Our rescued dog is leash-reactive to other dogs - hence the training. We stopped by the store to buy training treats before meeting with Nick. The two young ladies working both greeted us warmly and began to help us find what we needed. They knew our trainer, recognized that our dog was leash-reactive and helped us navigate the store to minimize the interactions for the dog and even went so far as to explain to another customer (with their dog) so the dog owner understood our dog's reaction and why they we directing us around the store. It ended up being a pleasant experience for us and our pup. He loved seeing all the toys and bones and just generally exploring. We got some training moments in. And we got our training treats and more! Loved the small business feel and service compared to the big box pet stores - but the inventory felt anything but small. I have shopped here for many years — starting when it was Pet People. All HF stores are now required to use a diffuser of a sickeningly sweet-smelling fragrance, Scents or fragrances — even if partly from plants — is defined by the FDA as “a combination of chemicals.” You say, “We have researched to ensure safety.” There’s no way you nor companies that use fragrances can “ensure” safety. These are mostly CHEMICALS and toxic to breathe. They are not “natural.” Practice good hygiene and you won’t have to worry about keeping “away different pet odors out of stores.” In all my years shopping there I never smelled a “bad” animal smell. This chemical cocktail is completely unnecessary and dangerous to employees who must inhale it...

I went this location because it was one of the last pet stores that was open late (8 pm). I quickly picked up the only thing I needed and went straight to the register (less than 2 min) when I got up to the register, the cashier informed me that they were now closed and I needed to put my only item back ( 50 lbs bag of dog food). They informed me that they forgot to lock the doors even though it was 7:55 pm. I have never been told ( not asked) to put my items back, when a store was still open. I always recommend this location to my friends who have pets and like great deals on treats but now I would second guess my recommendation since they denied my purchase during business hours.
