Cancun Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Cincinnati

I probably would have given them a 3, but after the 10 minute wait to pay my $100 bill while the cashier took a $14 carry out order, I have decided to give them what they deserve. A 1 rating. So here's my experience. We arrived at about 630 pm, to a half full restaurant. The hostess (cashier/take out order person) and waitress found us a seat pretty quickly. Service overall was good, food was average. About what I would have expected from your average Mexican establishment. Bill was $100 on the button and I typically tip 20%. For bill paying, you pay up front, and here's where I have an issue. We walked up and stood for what seemed to be an eternity. The cashier was taking a carry out order over the phone. Never an acknowledgement, never made eye contact, never made an attempt to put phone customer on hold or an attempt to get help from plenty of coworkers. All in all, rediculous service. Unfortunately, her lack of service cost the waitress $10 of her $20 tip. Sorry Christina, but it was my only recourse as I'm never coming back. On top of that, after I tell the cashier that her service level was less than par, she smiles and says, "we we're overwhelmed". So, ringing out a customer and a phone in $14 carry out order overwhelmed the entire establishment. Anyway, that's my story. I hate paying $100 for dinner, and leaving pissed off. Cancun's is westside's best mexican food restaurant located adjacent to Western Bowl. Even on busy nights there is ample parking in front and along the side of the building. There is often no wait to be seated at a nice sized table with comfortable chairs  or a booth. Have ala carte build your own meal as wall as a wide variety of delicious entrees. I love their tacos but you have to order the sour cream on the side. Additionally their steak mexicano, which is a rib eye covered in sauteed peppers and onions served with beans and rice is excellent and reasonably priced. Their house mariachi band is available upon request and they take tips. Moreover further the back of the restaurant there is a full bar with touchpad games and beer on tap. On thursday night's Cancun hosts a good karaoke. Their drink prices are responsible and they have nice TVs to watch the game on. My personal experience with staff and service has always been great and I have never heard any I'll words. If your in the mood for Mexican Cancun's is the place to go. All in all a great place to go to eat...

Extremely unreliable food. For people that would like hot and ready food, I'd suggest going elsewhere. I've been going to Cancun for over 7 years and their service has gotten bad every time I've gone there. One day they charge me $8, another day $12, and sometimes $10 for literally the same quesadilla that I eat every time. Like, what the heck! The manager is super cool but the staff is very rude. Most of the time, they look miserable and then they treat you bad for no reason at all. You would think complementary chips can't be hard to mess up but not at this place. Everytime you go there the same chips taste different. Some times they're overcooked and other times they taste weird and smell like household cleaners. Lastly, the utensils are always funky and dirty for some reason. I used to love this place and I hope they can fix these issues. I still go there once in a while to see what they're up to and even now, it's the same...
