I've dined at a lot of restaurants, and this was by far the worst service I have ever received.
I visited on 07/03/21 with a party of 2 people. The restaurant was busy, but not overwhelming. The host looked around the corner of the hostess station and told us it would be a 20-30 minute wait to be seated. I'm not sure how he came up with that number from a visual assessment of the restaurant rather than simply looking at his seating chart which he didn't do. Nonetheless, I put my name and number down and I was told I would receive a text when my table is ready.
Not even 30 seconds after we left the restaurant, we received a text that our table was ready. The host had absolutely no idea what he was doing and he just had the cookie cutter "20-30 minute wait" in his arsenal when he didn't actually know how long the wait was.
So, we walked back in and a different host was at the station. He helped the people in front of us and after that group had been helped, he told us he'll be with us in a minute. After he told us that, he preceded to walk to the bar about five feet away and start folding silverware. The silverware was more important than the customer.
After a few moments, the original host returned to the station and he did not even apologize for the mistake he made with the seating arrangement.
Not a big deal, we thanked him and he showed us to our table. After we were seated we sat there for about five minutes and no waiter/waitress approached our table. However, three different waitresses did walk past our table and noticed that we had not yet been helped.
Again, a little frustrating but not a big deal, it's busy I get it. We waited for fifteen minutes after that and nobody approached our table. Numerous waitresses passed by our table but did not bother to help us. Fifteen minutes was a long enough wait, so we had to get up and go request table service.
After we returned to the table with a waitress, she informed us that she was new and it was only her first week. She was very kind and asked us if we had any questions about he menu. We did have a few questions regarding the menu, but she was unable to answer any of our questions.
I understand that being a waitress is a very difficult job, it genuinely is. If a waitress is brand new to a restaurant, they should be properly trained and if they are within their first week of employment they should be shadowing an experienced waiter/waitress until they are confident in their ability to provide good service to the customers.
The food was average at best, but the food could have been the best in the world and I would still rate HangOverEasy 1/5 because of how terrible the service is at this restaurant.
I would HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND HangOverEasy unless you have hours on end to spend sitting around waiting...
Read moreThis restaurant has a menu full of pleasant surprises and clever twists on traditional breakfast fare. Most of the staff are friendly and just the right balance of attentive and unintrusive. The environment is clean and there are fun surprises like the “ night before” photos in front of the vintage bathrooms. The only thing that hampered my second visit to this spot was a slight misunderstanding with one of the male waiters/managers. I had had arm surgery the day before (a fistula because of complications from type 1 diabetes) and we were coming from the Cinci Eye Institute with some bad news about my vision…so I needed to elevate my left forearm while we had basically a comfort meal. My husband saw that another couple had moved from one of the small, slightly uncomfortable tables to a booth once it had been cleaned. He did not see them ask in advance, so we moved all of our things, including our trash, to a booth as well. This helped my surgical arm a lot. The employee rushed up to our table and told us “a party of four has been waiting for this table.” We apologized and prepared to move back, but he told us “it’s too late, you’ve moved all your stuff, never mind,” and rushed off. It was unclear why he told us if there was no way for us to fix the situation for him and for his other customers, and it kind of threw the mood for us. Our waitress, on the other hand, was very kind. It wasn’t a huge issue, but I would have liked the opportunity to fix things a bit less brusquely and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been to Hang Over Easy multiple times and have been lucky enough to have received excellent service on our first and second visit. The food was delicious and we were certain that we had found our Saturday brunch tradition. The last two times will be exactly that - the last times we will attend. Most recently, we had to ask for our drinks three times (at the bar no less), no refills on water or coffee were provided, no utensils were provided to us, and there were multiple hairs in our (otherwise fantastic) food. No apology was offered and the self-proclaimed "Space Cadet" bartender spent a majority of our time there chatting with friends and coworkers. On our second-to-last visit, our server attempted to rush us out of the restaurant by dropping the check simultaneously with our food. I understand that it's a busy place, but the server missed out on us ordering more drinks and food, decreasing her tip and our enjoyment our tasty Frog Eyes.
In short, the food, while delicious and inventive, is the sole reason for this two star review. I have been to IHOPs where the service made my enjoyment of the meal drastically better than the mid-afternoon snubbing by haughty hipsters we have received on our last visits. If you can, peek in the window and be sure that the bartender with the long beard and friendly demeanor is serving up a good time. If he is absent, beware or find somewhere...
