Home Base Tavern — Restaurant in Cincinnati

A friend that lives nearby this bar invited me out and we walked here rather than paying for an Uber in town. It was quiet, but it was early and we were greeted by the bartender nicely. She asked to see our ID's, which we complied to. She took them and was holding them under the dim refrigerator light and seemed to get excited, exclaiming they were fakes? She rattled off some information like our expiration date and birthdate aren't the same. We quickly tried to show her they were the same. Then, she slammed our ID's down and said "even if they are real, you aren't getting served here". The other patrons over hearing this got involved and my friend and I sat through a public embarrassment about having fake ID's. (Mind you we are both 25 and extremely confused as to why we just got kicked out of this bar) We will not be returning. This occurred 10/11/25...

My favorite bar. It really is my home base bar. Been going here for almost 10 years and the bar tender is always on point with her drinks. Always has deals on drinks and even free pool sometimes. If your looking for a place to get to know people and a awesome vibe where they welcome everyone; than this should be your regular go to spot. I went with my partner, who had been there many times for karaoke night. I loved how homely it felt when I first walked in, and I didn't pay too much attention to the gentle smell of cigarette smoke inside.

I think it only took 15 minutes before I noticed how hard it was to get away from the cigarette smoke. It didn't matter where I went, there was someone smoking cigarettes in every gd room. I had to step outside or else I felt sick.

My partner said that it's usually not like that, so I'm going to give it another try and hope...
