The Owners, Kim and Wally Lester of Milford, were just as rude, as this employee.
The Lesters had retorted to a note a customer had sent to Door Dash about the customer service at the restaurant being subpar.
The employee would not provide a sample sized gumbo portion for the sandwich order, instead stating that if "You want an extra portion you can request an extra portion for $3.00 extra." That was not what had been requested. The portion that employee had served was a little on the smaller size than the other times that had the same dish had been ordered.
Wally and/or Kim Lester, the owners of the store, were as rude, in their Door Dash response stating "they cannot just give out extra food without charging for it." Surprising that they would say this, do they not give out Free taste samples regularly?
The Lesters stated "that they try to be very consistent and ensure accurate and correct serving sizes."
The serving measurement is hardly precise, and this employee served less than the scoop that is usually served.
Suffice it to say the serving sizes are dependent on the server, and that can be and is a great variability.
The perception that the Lesters as owners/managers feel that they could not “give away the food” says it all. This was hardly the case, and they would obviously welcome charging more for less than serving a consistent satisfactory amount that the customer is already paying for.
There are many restaurants to choose from, fortunately, as this J Gumbo’s would prefer to dispute a small serving size with a customer rather than recognize the variability to the portions that are served.
Although this was ordered online through Door Dash, the meal was not ready at the scheduled time, and there were no other customers there at the pickup time. The place was empty, except for the one employee on her phone, and she had to look up the online order in front of the customer and was otherwise apparently completely unaware of it.
