I have never had Poke but after looking at the menu and reviews online I had to give it a shot. I went there for lunch on rainy Monday afternoon. It is on the same block as a streetcar stop so the location is very convenient. There were a few other tables but the restaurant was fairly empty at that time. The place is set up very much like a Chipotle in that you can select from a menu Poke bowl or create your own. The gentleman working behind the counter walked me through the ordering process and described the ingredients. You select your base(white/brown rice, greens or zucchini noodles) protein, sauces and toppings. Proteins include beef, pork, salmon and tuna. I got the Maui Poke which had marinated tuna, miso crab, cucumber pineapple, green onion and fried onion. I added a sriracha aioli and wasabi. That was all atop a bed of zucchini noodles. I have to say that it was delicious. The ingredients were very fresh and well seasoned. With the quantity and quality of the ingredients it is definitely a good value ($9.50). The drink selection was quite limited. They had milk tea and a few bottle beverages but do not offer fountain drinks. I will definitely be back to try the other items...
Read moreIt's okay, comparing it to other bowls like prada, Qdoba, bibibop, its okay but I'd skip it from now on. The place inside is a bit small, it can probably fit up to 25 comfortably + outdoor seating. I like that you can use the paper menu & chose out what you like, give it to the person behind the counter & he reads it. Although it can be time consuming as he'd recheck what you marked off rather than just telling or pointing to him like other places.
The food was good, the chicken marinade wasn't hot rather warm. You get up to 7 toppings like the Qdoba & bibibop but the bow & portion size is a lot bigger for $12.25. Boba is one size, based on the cup I think a whole 16oz can fit in it with the ice & boba. I wanted just the regular boba but popping boba was added, not sure if it is standard to get 2 if I'm paying $5.50 but other boba places can give you a bigger size of 20oz-24oz.
Overall, the food quality was alright, fresh, pricing wise not as good or convenient for myself, parking is hard to find if it's busy so be prepared to park in the Washington Park underground parking or on...
Read morePoke Hut is one of the best new restaurants in OTR. I go here at least once a week. Poke is a traditional Hawaiian seafood salad, usually a bed of rice topped with vegetables and raw fish. The marinated tuna is the 💣
Edited May 2019: Poke Hut has been around for about a year and a half now, and it's quickly established itself as one of my favorite restaurants. Even though I've since moved out of Over-the-Rhine, I frequently make it back as often as I can. It's hard to find healthy options when dining out, but this is where Poke Hut excels.
All of the ingredients are fresh, and the flavors blend perfectly together. The owners, Sally and Baret, are incredibly warm, friendly people and that comes through in their staff as well.
They've expanded the menu to augment the fresh fish selection with other cooked proteins for people who may not be too keen on raw salmon or tuna. It's also a place where you can eat as a vegetarian without having to compromise flavor or portions.
All in all, 11/10, would...
