My husband visited Sebastians on Glenway today. He's pretty chill when going in restaurants because he ran Captain D's in Norwood for years. Young lady working there must have really been out of line for him to say anything negative. He said she was real short and not willing to help in the ordering process (suggestions and such). Very short and rushing him along. He asked if they had cheese, and she said no, so he just ordered our gyros and fries and waited. He observed her talking so recklessly to the Hispanic worker that he almost spoke up to her about it. In walked two Caucasian guys and I hate to say, her whole temperament changed. A police officer who said he wanted extra meat, to which she gladly said " I will add that no extra charge. The other guy asked to add Feta ( cheese) to his gyros and she gladly added it. My husband (who had asked if they had cheese) spoke up and asked "isn't Feta cheese?" She answered yes ( sarcastically) he said he would like that please. She told him that will be $2.00 extra for both. She then turned to the worker and in the same sarcastic tone said " he wants Feta now". I say all of this not to say don't eat there, because the food is good. But people must learn or better yet unlearn rudeness and implement true customer service. Whomever the owners of that establishment are, they never know the amount of business they are and will lose due to one person's...
Read moreBeen going here all my life and visit whenever I’m back in town. And it’s only because of that I’m still giving 3 stars at the moment. New owner/management has changed things. My son with an egg allergy finally decided to try a gyro. So I go to order and the lady at the register was quite off-putting as I asked about egg and responded “there’s no way for me to know that!!” Umm, excuse me - you serve food - you should know about the ingredients and main allergens and definitely not make a customer of 35+ years feel bad about asking. She had the label of the meat handy and even looked at it but was unable to answer my question. I looked at it and confirmed there’s no egg. My husband called the bakery that makes the pitas and was also able to confirm no egg. So we got the food, but this makes me wonder if I’ll ever be back. Meat strips were cut thinner than Alex used to, making the meat crustier, and the sauce seemed more garlicky....
Read moreIf this is considered the ‘best’ Greek food in Cincinnati (which, given Cincinnati’s overall lousy restaurant scene, I’m not surprised) then this city has much to learn. For starters, go to Detroit and go to Greektown if you want good Greek food. Second, while the owner seemed a nice guy, the place really needs a refresh as it’s old and seemed kind of dirty (take a peek under the equipment at the end of the counter). While I understand the lure of old school joints, I can name several other old school restaurants in the greater Cincinnati area (okay, mostly all in Dayton) that are at least better kept aesthetically and also offer truly great food.
Drove over there from the other side of town hoping for better given the reviews. Unfortunately, not even close to worth a trip back. On the plus side, they weren’t stingy with the gyro meat and the taste was fine although IMHO can get an equally good gyro at a few places on...
