El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Citrus Heights

Came to this location, not once but twice . Be carefull they have thieves working for them!!

Not once, but twice has this happened to us at this location. Once happened last year, and the second just happened on Cinco de Mayo.

I came here with my family ordered two items. The amazing Molcajete and my husband ordered the chili Colorado and we got our son a quesadilla. We got our bill. We were served by a girl named Miriam. I think her name was or Maria in the same section where the first counterfeit happened.

We got our bill we paid we tipped reasonably as recommended, two days later I get my statement checking my bank account and they gave himself an additional $10 tip .!!! I guess the amount that I left wasn't good enough for the server so she took it upon herself to manually enter a greater tip than what was left and given to her.

Again, this is not the first time that this has happened at this location and we will never be coming back because of it. The manager, I can't remember his name, young kid wonderful! He was absolutely very helpful, refunded our entire bill and compensated us for the theft, he even offered us to come back and have a meal on the house on him for the experience, but we just don’t feel comfortable doing that. That’s not what we want! We want the thievery to stop within their employees.

He helped us the first time this happened, and when I called back with the same issues, the same complaint that this had happened again at the same establishment he was appalled and dumbfounded.

And unfortunately, because of this, we will not be coming back. If we do come back, it will be with cash only so we can maintain and manage what we give as tips because the employees at this location take it upon themselves to manually enter what they need from your accounts. And I've worked as a server I've worked as a waitress, a bartender and a cocktail server and many different locations for many years when it comes to entering tips they are left by credit cards. That is a manual thing you have to do there's no way to mess this up , there's no way to oops make a mistake. You literally have to manually input your own amount or the amount you're supposed to left by the customer.

So be very careful and cautious when going to this location, they have thieves working for them...

What have I been missing? Obviously, beautiful Mexican ambiance, music and food. The traditional décor and family friendly ambiance is a great ideal place to celebrate special occasions. They had mirachi band and so many tables were celebrating birthday. Inside the restaurant was loud music but we didn’t mind at all. It felt nice to be in lively place although I know some would disagree that was right decision. I would say, it was nice seeing the restaurant packed crowded especially they suffered a lot in pandemic. The staffs had mask on. And they were friendly too.

I’ve never seen Buddha at any Mexican restaurant. That was interesting to see at this Mexican restaurant.

El Tapatio offers full service cantinas for thirsty tongue with some of the tastiest margaritas. I loved their drinks. They serve customers with delicious foods, free salsa and chips.

I highly recommend their fish tacos. My kids loved their chicken strips with french fries. Your stomach won’t be disappointed with the generous servings and neither will your wallet with the prices. Take my word and try this place out.

We usually work on Sundays. We can not make it in for a Sunday brunch that often. We are on vacation! So happy we decided to stop by today for brunch. Every thing tasted so yummy very flavorful! Can't wait to go back..we stuffed our shelves. But wanted to eat more. The omelet station was amazing. He did a great job did not over cook the omelets. They had different options to add to your omelet. He has a tip jar. Their homemade tortillas are amazing also corn or flour. I got two of each to try. They also have a tip jar. Glad I had cash I forgot about the tip jars from the last time we were there. They also made street tacos by the tortilla lady station. My husband had the prime rib. Then we needed to go looking for a knife to cut it. I wasn't sure if it was supplied near the caving station. The prime rib was near the omelet station. They were busy by the time we realized we needed a knife. They had many other items to choose from. They even had different soups. Then realized we didn't get a spoon. They were displayed by the soups. Even the chips were very tasty, so happy I tried them on another round. So many more things I wanted to try. But I was so full. The key lime pie was good my husband said. I had the churros, cinnamon pastry, chocolate chip cookie and caramel sauce. Last time they had homemade whipped cream. But I did not see it this time. I was sad but everything was so good it didn't need it. We hope to go back another Sunday hopefully while we are still on vacation. They are happy to take lager groups. Nice to see a place thats Happy to take larger groups. All the servers seem to work together. Making sure our empty plates are cleared and making sure we had drink refills. They also have a large bar area. The bar always seems to be very busy..looks like they have a lot of seating...
