Mizuki Sushi — Restaurant in Citrus Heights

I gotta say, this place was much better than Bento Box Midtown! The pricing is "comparable"- I mean if rolls are ALWAYS 50%OFF, then why not just put the discounted price on the menu?? Idk ijs🤷🤔

Anyhoo- The Food!

Miso soup was HOT (as soup should be) and "just enough" to satisfy my Miso cravings! It was perfectly delicious 😋!!!

I also had Fried Tofu with my soup- they call it something else (I don't remember lol) because it's not listed as "fried tofu" on the menu...these symmetrical cubes were uniformly dusted (on EVERY SIDE) with panko, perfectly deep-fried and presented with thin strips of Nori❤️ (BB Tofu only had panko on top, random sized/cut "pieces"-fried and thrown into a styrofoam box).

The two rolls I had were really good! Spicy tuna roll (which was deep fried- I don't know what happened- I thought I was paying attention but I really wasn't because I assumed it would be "raw" lol but that's on me! It was still delicious! Roll #2 was the "J and J" with crab "mix" and Shrimp, it too was delicious.

One thing tho that was "disappointing"- they didn't have coffee (I thought EVERY restaurant had coffee 😂☕) so then I asked for tea- THEY WERE OUT OF TEA!!! How is that even possible that at 2pm on a moderately busy afternoon (not at all what I expected for a Mother's Day) can you possibly be OUT OF TEA?!? AT A SUSHI RESTAURANT OF ALL PLACES?!? 😡😂🤦 But that alone didn't warrant me taking away any stars, the food, presentation and ambiance was the perfect setting for THIS mother on Mother's Day!

So GO, on ANY day and be satisfied and satiated (those words mean the same thing but I wanna use them anyway sooo...🤷) Portion sizes are more than enough for any appetite! I couldn't finish all of mine after first having tofu and Miso soup! You won't be disappointed! Waitstaff was...

This is a good basic sushi restaurant. They don't have exotic raw fishes but they have a good selection of the normal go to fish. The food menu is extensive. The atmosphere is casual and on the more modern and trendy side with top 40 music playing quietly. I've seen people eat here in shorts or in sundresses. They do have a patio that sits in the shade. The service is efficient.

The quality of the fish has always been excellent every time we've visited. My husband loves their sushi rolls and always wants to go to this restaurant because they have the best rolls. They have TVs with sports on but they are playing on mute. They have a sushi bar but it does not look like they have people sitting there anymore, probably because of Covid. The place is clean and very pleasant.

Their miso soup is basic, nothing special. Their salads are excellent. They are made with fresh, crispy iceberg lettuce and some shaved carrots but it's the salad dressing that's the star. I'm not sure if they make it homemade but it sure taste like it. They also have a salmon appetizer that comes on a Himalayan salt rock sprinkled with olive oil and chili threads. It is absolutely delicious and worth the price.

Our last time at the restaurant we had two salads, two bowls of miso soup, the salmon on the Himalayan rock, three beers, one large hot sake (no full bar) and two rolls and our tab was $92 with a generous tip. Sometimes we go and have sodas and don't get soups and split 1 salad and the tab is around...

Food is good but customer service is awful! Last night we ordered two rolls for pick up.We did it while we drive home from bay area.We call 1,5 hrs before to get home because every time we make order we waiting it at least this time although they told us by phone that order will be ready in 30min.It happens three times like this already!When we was 5 minutes away from restaurant we got phone call and woman asked me to pay over the phone.I asked why and explained her that we will pick the order and pay in restaurant in 5min.Instead saying ok she start arguing saying that She dont trust me!!!it put in shock because for 30 years living in this country I never heard that someone saying their customers We dont trust you!!!!When i pick up the order inside I ask her why you dont trust me.What I did wrong and instead to hear some appologies she continues argue with me saying that she dont trust any customers here!!!When I said to her its not appropriate to talk to your customers like that she said if you dont like this place find another one.Yes lady and I did it.Mikuni sushi more expensive but they respect their customers and never ever will say something like you did!!Thanks for awful customer...
