Tasty Thai Tampa — Restaurant in Citrus Park

The restaurant is inside a gas station (shell) and I didn't see any signs on the outside. Do not hesitate and walk inside and to the back. 3 tables pushed together and 6 chairs constitute the dining-in option. I ordered vegetarian stir fry in Thai hot. I received a large portion of freshly cooked vegetables with lots of fried tofu in a flavorful, slightly sweet and spicy sauce. At first I thought that the heat level was rather white old dude than Thai but I started finding more and more thinly sliced Thai peppers and half through the plate, the heat level was wonderful. The dish came with plenty of rice and a cup of water. Since I ordered hot, I received some pepper flakes and sambal olek (?) on the side but NOT the more traditional Thai chilies in Fish sauce because I had ordered a vegetarian meal. That attention to detail is highly appreciated. I am cooking stir fries, panang, green and Massamann curry on a regular basis and I really enjoyed my tasty meal at tasty Thai Tampa. Not cheap but...

A Diamond in the Rough Restaurant in a ( Shell Gas Ststion ) 👩‍🍳 Yes!! Was in the Tampa Area, and I was going to get the basic " Chips/ Hot dog/ Candy bar " but, once I walked in gas Station, the smell was overwhelming and definitely Not self serve items smell. So I immediately searched where this was coming from, and out of know where to my Suprise a " Thai Restaurant " 😳😋 . Wow!! Owner Lady very Nice, immediately said Hi 👋 and showed me menu. Since I was kinda in a rush but obviously hungry, she said " How about Shrimp Fried Rice Medium Heat, I'll make it in 5 min no problem " ok sure! Wow, BEST SHRIMP 🍤 FRIED RICE with a Thai twist to it!! Great Service, Food and atmosphere, random location for sure, but Glad I chose the first gas ststion to get a quick snack and end up getting a 5 star Meal from TASTY...

I used to live in Thailand for 7 years, and anyone who's spent time there knows how different the food is compared to how it's often presented in the West. A lot of places adjust the flavors for Western palates, but this restaurant really surprised me. While they do have some Westernized options like orange chicken, they also offer genuinely authentic Thai dishes—like the khao soi, which I ordered.

The khao soi brought back serious nostalgia. It was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious—easily one of the best Thai dishes I’ve ever had in the U.S. And that’s saying a lot, because I cook Thai food almost exclusively at home these days (especially with how expensive eating out has gotten).
