The concept of "sports bar meets beer garden" sounds like a great idea for Binghamton, and I was looking forward to this addition to the downtown scene. Unfortunately, this place misses the mark in almost every conceivable way. The positives: the open-air part of the space seemed nice and the staff was at least friendly. The negatives: everything else. After being seated in a cramped corner high top that was absurdly close to another occupied table (despite the restaurant being largely empty on a Saturday evening) and glancing over the uninspired menu, we talked about leaving but decided to stick it out. It didn't take long for everyone in our group to acknowledge that was a mistake. Our very friendly server was unable to answer basic questions, like what the beer options were. When she originally answered "I don't know" and I said I would go check with the bar, she proceeded to give me a list of incorrect guesses (most of which weren't the names of actual beers) [the beer selection is no where near commensurate with the "beer garden" concept too]. We ordered an appetizer for the table (the Irish nachos -- a large plate of small, soft potato skins absolutely swimming in the kind of nacho cheese you typically find at high school sports concession stands), and the table had to stifle laughter when two of the four entrees arrived less than a minute after the nachos. The other two made their way out within five minutes. I could go on with more anecdotes about the ridiculous service, but this is getting long. The upshot on that is the place seems to be staffed by people who are clueless about how restaurants typically work. Of the four of us, only one wasn't seriously disappointed with what they ordered; the spiedie egg rolls weren't bad at all. The rest was simply not worth wasting time on a dinner out. I will single out the shrimp tacos as the worst. For $17, you would expect a few shrimp in each one. Instead, the shrimp comes chopped into little bits that amount to ~1 Tablespoon per taco, lost in a pile of soggy pico and a vast amount of "queso".
Perhaps Stadium 138 will be content with being a well-located place to watch a game while drinking a macro-lager (although the first floor arrangement really only works for whatever they have on as the main event -- the other screen are distantly and awkwardly positioned). There is probably a valid niche for that downtown, as long as people know that's what this place is about. Any ideas you might have from their website that this is some kind of hip sportsbar/gastropub fusion should...
Read moreFriday-July/19/2024 heard down the street a nice band and decide to find out where was coming from, stadium 138 the olace was pack, everyone having fun, drinks and food looks good so when i decide to jump in and order some drinks and food i saw at the entrance next where the band was playing 2 girls and a guy that i think are employees from stadium making fun, laughing and disrespecting my wife who is a disable person in a electric wheelchair and suffer from a lot of other medical conditions, this behavior is unacceptable people don’t know how hard is for her to live day by day and when she decides to have fun and enjoy a day without thinking of Doctors and medications someone decide to make fun of her and she end up crying. The people from the band where so nice with her but she still decide to leave, i think this behavior can be tolared by the stadium 138 restaurants this can lead to loose costumers and bad reputation for the place, how can I recommend a place where they make fun of other peoples misery. She is a human being who is love and she loves her family, what if they do it to other people besides her and i think they do, will end up loosing business no one wil go to a place where their love ones feels uncomfortable and bullied. I hope you can fix this problem and have more empathy in the future for other people also training about bullying will be awesome for your employees. My first time there and wasn’t able to enjoy the music, foods and drinks like any other couple in the city, and as for me don’t think i will go back again or...
