Stopped in here a couple weeks ago Tuesday (haven't had a chance to enter a review until now); place wasn't exceptionally busy given it was a weekday; menu was pretty straightforward pub food (beef on weck, flatbread pizza, etc.). After a brief wait while the barmaid took care of some customers we ordered 2 flatbread pizzas and 1 beef on weck, along with one of their in-house lagers. We were given a buzzer to let us know when our food order was ready for us to pickup, so we took our drinks out onto the deck to wait. There is a very nice view of the lake from the decks, however I noticed that the deck needed some attention as there were more than a few sections that should probably be replaced (the railing top next to our table was rotted and coming apart). Our food was actually pretty good: the flatbread pizzas were well cooked and tasty, and the beef on weck, while not the best I ever had, was still pretty darn good with a real kummelweck roll and well seasoned thinly sliced beef. And the accompanying homemade chips were very good and not greasy at all. Certainly worth the prices. The lager was very nice especially on a hot day. I'm hoping with continued support and success from customers, that they will be able to give the deck a makeover. But the food and at least the lager are...
Read moreWe stopped in this afternoon (a Tuesday late August) to check them out while traveling along Route 20. I wouldn't recommend them. We ordered two cocktails (Moscow Mule and Blue Whale - I believe it was called). They were okay. We also ordered pretzels and beer cheese and their loaded nacho's. The food took forever and they were only mildly busy (no customers seated inside and probably 25 on the deck). It's obviously a small kitchen and I understand some of it but people who ordered ahead of us got their order after us and they only ordered pretzels.
The "beer cheese" tasted like cheap stadium nacho cheese sauce with a little beer added, maybe, and the nachos tasted like Old El Paso grocery store taco meat with the same cheap nacho cheese sauce on top. I respect a small menu but if you're going to be small you should be able to be great.
The restaurant was lake shore and it was a nice day. We were hoping to have stumbled on to a gem. Instead, we stumbled on to a...
Read moreThis was my first time at Twisted Rail Brewing Company. It has an amazing location with great view right on the water. Good beer, my favorite one was 50 shades of red! Then the service aspect of my visit was awful. I understand servers have bad days. She didn't greet us for good 15 minutes. We ordered flights and waters to start. We received our flights and the server put down and didn't bother to tell us what beers were which and walked away. Then never brings our waters. We ask for a few napkins, never received those either. She doesn't return for a good 15 minutes then takes our food order. I walked inside to find the server stand to find napkins myself. While I was walking in she said " Oh that's your water on that table want to grab it take it out?" I wouldn't have minded grabbing it earlier in my visit. It was at the end after we asked a number of times for the water. Good beer, great location but...
