Creation Coffee — Restaurant in City of Frankenmuth

My family has been vacationing in Frankenmuth for over 10 years. We go to the Harvest Coffeehouse every morning of our vacation. It has been a couple of years since we have been able to visit due to Covid. In that time, there have been many changes. The first that I noticed was that there are only take out cups even if you are staying in the café. I realize that this may be due to Covid but, since restrictions have been lifted, I was surprised that paper cups were still being used. Poor choice for the environment. Secondly, the reusable cups make it prohibitive to make a design on the latte. I realize that this is just an aesthetic but I appreciated the time spent to craft my drink. Next, the full menu has been removed from the wall. The menu doesn't seem to have changed but it is now on paper at the counter. It's challenging for people in line to choose a drink until they are close enough to get their hands on a small menu and, for those of us over 50, we appreciated the large wall menu as it was easy to read. People are now at the front of the line trying to quickly peruse the menu and order. Once our drinks were ordered, they took a while to prepare. The staff was friendly but seemed to work at one speed whether they were busy or not. Some people in line left as they were frustrated with the wait. I ordered a chai latte the first day I arrived. It was not exactly as I remember it. It was too sweet for my taste. The next day, I ordered it less sweet but it was exactly the same. There was no spicy chai flavour. It was more of a sweet hot chocolate alternative and not to my taste. After that, I didn't go back. The last change I noticed was that the comfy couch on the main level has been replaced with high tables and metal stools. They were not comfortable and in fact impossible for my elderly parents to sit on. We ended up leaving the café to find a quiet and comfortable place to sit. Other people in my family continued to go back for lattes and enjoyed them. We were told that there is a new manager and that there have been changes. I'm not sure that they have all been for the best. I will try again next year when we visit but was definitely disappoint...

Updated review: 2 years ago I would’ve recommended this place but my opinion on that has changed… sad to say but I would no longer recommend going here. The owners changed and shortly after they started changing everything…The service isnt very good they are always short with costumers. and they always get even the simplest of drinks wrong. Not to mention it’s just another creation coffee shop (and those are everywhere, it’s nothing special or unique) the taste of creation coffee is alright it’s not great but it’s not horrible. But it always makes me stomach hurt, that might just be me.

And I’m a local. I absolutely love this place. The coffee and wide variety and selection of drinks is great. Something for everyone even the kids. They are also amazing at taking specialized orders. Sorta pricey, but thats what good coffee cost; worth it! Can be crowded at times in the fall and winter, as it should be. New workers and staff so I would recommend having some patience with them. The coffee is pretty good. I’ve been here quite a few times since it has been open. I have tried their hot and iced lattes. I have tried their frozen drinks as well. It’s nice to have a coffee shop in the heart of Frankenmuth because otherwise you would have to travel to BR.

I did received a dead-espresso shot once. They probably would have remade it but I didn’t want to be that person because it was busy. To be fair I know a fair amount about coffee and most people will not know the difference. When a shot doesn’t mix with something within 10-30 seconds the shot becomes bitter. I guarantee that most people will not know the difference though especially if they are mixing their drink with a flavored syrup.
