First, the staff here at the welcome center is amazing! They provided a coupon book, which was very useful, but they thing that I liked most was the gnome game. Our family arrived in town about an hour prior to going to the visitor's center. We had no idea even where to begin in town, so unlike us, we decided to go to the visitor's center to see what Frankenmuth had to offer. They told us about a gnome game that many shops in the area participate in with the visitor's center. These named gnomes are well hidden in many stores around town. The point of the game is that you have to find so many gnomes in the shops, jot down their names and the location that you found them, then return the form to the visitor's center for prizes. This was an excellent way to get the family out and about during our short stay here in Frankenmuth. Kudos to whomever thought up this game! I would highly recommend anyone new to the area to drop in and say hello to the friendly ladies at the...
Read moreGreat place to visit. It is well worth a personal stop to the visitor and welcome center before exploring the area. I was surprised that the Silent Night Chapel inside the building was glass enclosed (except for benches where visitors can sit). However, it is understandable. I was disappointed that Bronner's Christmas store did not sell vintage style icicle tree lights, which I wanted to purchase. However, there were many unique items for sale there that would perk one's interest. The Bavarian Belle Riverboat paddle ride was our highlight. We were told that the captain usually doesn't take her out unless there is a minimum of 8 customers (likely due to run cost). Yet, he had accommodated a group of six that evening so as not to disappoint potential passengers. Finally, I suggest you treat yourself to hand dipped ice cream at Zak and Mac's Chocolate Haus in Riverplace before leaving the area (across from the paddleboat ticket booth). The best tasting ice cream...
Read moreThe Visitor Center had several photo opportunities, tons of local brochures, and nice displays of local shops. There were vending machines and benches for resting after a busy walk.
We did not go into the visitor center to speak with a representative but we did go into the bathrooms. They were horribly dirty. The ladies room had one stall that was duct taped closed. The middle stall didn’t have a door latch. The building definitely needs some upgrading and for a visitor’s center, it truly should be cleaned hourly on busy days like...
