I went to Grounded for breakfast this morning, July 27th. I ordered for my family, my husband and I each got a breakfast sandwich, and my daughter got the cheese croissant. I’m really upset with the coffee issues we had. First, I saw “flight” of coffee option on the website before going. I was really excited about that. When I went in this morning to order it, they said they “only have that at night”…. They aren’t open at night, according to the website, they close at three. So basically.. that was wrong and misleading. I ordered the lavender latter. I enjoyed its flavoring. My husband ordered the chai. He had a few sips, and asked me to taste it to see if his taste buds were off. I tried it, and it had a STRONG lingering on cinnamon. I didn’t enjoy that. He was dissatisfied with it (a few sips doesn’t seem like much, but the thing was filled to the top with ice, and it doesn’t take much for it to look half full with a few sips). Anyway, I went up to the counter to address the issue. I asked how it was made (was it a certain syrup that was used, was cinnamon in it, etc). I asked if the guy could fix it or make a new one (different flavor). He told me neither was possible, without me buying a new drink. Y’all, I spent $40 dollars on breakfast!! Seems like it would be a “cheap” option for them to fix it, rather than to lose me as a customer. I plan on calling the manager. Idk the guys name but he was a bigger dude, kinda tall, brownish hair. He was the only male I saw working so shouldn’t be hard to point him out.

Read moreThe only thing that could improve this coffee shop is if they were open later. 24/7 would be nice. If not that then maybe they could just relocate to my living room. Sadly, only got the chance to visit Grounded once in the 5 day vacation my sister and I spent visiting our hometown of Geneva. Had a couple of the seasonal specials and a couple of savory goat cheese danishes that were all amazing. We walked in with only 10 minutes before they closed and they greeted us bright and warm as if we were the first customers of the day. We definitely used a good portion of those ten minutes trying to limit our selection to just two drinks, because I don't think I would have been disappointed with anything off their menu. The room is rustic and welcoming and seems like a place you can spend any time of the day, any day of the year. I can imagine it as a pub in the past, with tons of history behind every dark floorboard warmed by the afternoon sun through the south-facing windows. We went to several coffee shops this past week and this one and one in Syracuse were the two that genuinely left an impression, all the rest were either forgettable or bland. I hope these guys stick around for some years to come because it's hard to find a really decent coffee shop even in a collage town these days. (no doubt thanks to that green siren and her overpriced and underwhelming sugarbombs.) So, remember that friends don't let friends drink corporate coffee. Go to Grounded. You'll be...
Read moreLoved this place! I’m so happy to see another cafe in Geneva, it’s an area they’re a bit lacking in, but this place definitely fills the need! First, their staff is SO friendly! When we told them it was our first time here, they took the time to point out some favorites on the menu and go over the specials. I got their iced salted caramel latte, and my mom also got that but a hot version. Both drinks were delicious! I like my coffee to be a little more coffee flavor forward, and this drink definitely delivered. I could’ve gone for a little more salt, but it can often overpower the drink so I wasn’t too upset about it. I also got their chicken and waffles and I highly recommend getting it! The waffles have this wonderful caramelized flavor, and the chicken was good too. I got syrup and hot honey on top and it was delicious. A wonderful combo of sweet and savory. Overall it was a great brunch and we will...
