My now husband and I were planning our wedding from out of state and simply sweets was recommended to us from a friend that grew up with me in the area. Communication with the owner the first few months was good over the phone and via email, but that is where it ended. I sent multiple pictures from Pinterest, provided pictures of my flowers and asked her if she was confident she could make what I was hoping for and she confirmed. We were only able to meet in person one time before the wedding for our tasting, but I was not worried, isn’t that what Skype is for? We had arranged the tasting 6 months in advance and her assistant cancelled, which would not have been a big deal if we hadn’t flown up for only 3 days. After speaking with my coordinator I was told I should probably look for another baker because apparently simply sweets has had issues with other customers. My friends and family also felt it was unacceptable, but I did not oblige. I battled with the idea for about a week and after addressing my concerns she apologized and assured me she would give me exactly what I wanted, but I really should have gone elsewhere. My mom tried going there to drop off my artificial flowers I would be using so the owner could make fondant versions or use them on our cake; there was not a single flower on our cake. The pictures are attached of the cake I wanted, my flowers and the last one is the cake we got. The cake did taste good and she mailed us cupcakes that we put together ourselves and used to decide on our flavors, but the colors were off and unfortunately, the cake looked like something you could get at walmart or Kroger for a 5th of the price. The cake was also very hard to cut and basically fell apart while our photographer was taking pictures. I would not recommend this bakery for anyone seeking to impress their guests for their event nor would I recommend it to anyone who knows what they want and is not willing to compromise....significantly. Even my husband was surprised and waited nearly a month to say something once I brought it up because he didn’t want to hurt my feelings, I guess going against the advice of friends and family was a mistake. We were truly disappointed and tried to do the right thing and give the owner a second chance, but I advise everyone else to not do the same! Save yourself...
Read moreGenerally don't have a bad experience here, however today was the worst. I come in for an iced Chai latte, my phone recently updated and I no longer had Google pay and just needed to download the app. The older woman behind the counter made a big deal about me asking if she would help the people behind me in line while I got the app. She claimed she could not close the order without payment. I told the woman if she was going to make such a big deal about it I did not want the Chai and I was going to leave, she then proceeds to tell me she made the drink and that I couldn't leave without paying for it. I exited the line while the app downloaded and by some miracle she was able to close the order without payment. I then got back in line and paid for my drink and left. Will not be returning as this is the most ridiculous conversation I've ever had while trying to order a...
Read moreMarina did a stellar job! My husband and I are not cake people but man, hers is the best! It was super close to our venue which was nice as well. We went with a four tiered naked cake. Our bottom layer was chocolate and the other three were banana (odd, but so so good!) and chocolate frosting on all of it. Again, I just showed Marina some inspiration photos for our cake and we purchased the flowers/cake topper ahead of time. All she had us do was leave the decorations on the cake table before she arrived and she worked her magic! The cake looked exactly as I hoped, if not better, and tasted SO amazing, we got compliments from all our guests on it. We are saving the top tier for our anniversary and I can’t wait to...
