We tried Southpaw 2 nights ago for the first time, and everything was simply amazing. The GM Dustin waited on us and was extremely friendly. He explained how everything they buy is all fresh ingredients, nothing is frozen, And almost none of it goes to waste. Eggplant chips were delicious, I highly recommend them. Now I've tried both grits and collard greens in the past and reach time they were disgusting. However, both came with the southern fried chicken entree, and these were on a whole different level. Apparently the collard greens they make are a 3 day process - I have no clue how they're normally made but I ate every bit of them. The grits were also good, I even took another side order home. By far the best food I've had in a restaurant in a long time. So good in fact, we went again tonight!!! Last time I passed on the wings but got them this time, the pineapple habanero we do good, and the housemate blue cheese is amazing and was like a religious experience!!! The owner/chef stopped by our table to say hi and we expressed our gratitude for everything. I had a few wings left to take how, but he have me a decent sized container of his blue cheese too take with me, which I thought was extremely cool if him. This will definitely be a place we frequent, especially knowing that the menu changes every few weeks depending on what's available from the farm he gets his ingredients from. Yes, parking downtown is terrible, but I'd walk from my house 3 miles away...

Everything about this experience was fabulous from start to finish.

My husband and I had dinner with another couple on a Saturday night. The restaurant had a steady flow of customers that seemed to move seamlessly in and out of the dining room. Despite how busy it was, we were able to hear each other easily.

Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable. He stopped by often to check on drinks and offer refills.

And now for the food - the star of the evening for sure! My husband and his friend split the shrimp wrapped in bacon appetizer. I did not try any, but was told they were fantastic. The shrimp were large in size and looked to be cooked well. We decided to share appetizers instead of ordering dinners. I highly recommend the hushpuppies - like nothing you have had before. The grill and chill crossing were good, but I would order the Hangar steak next time (Hubby sampled a bite and was really impressed). And the wings were amazing! Decent sized, juicy, and with just the right amount of sauce. The homemade herbed blue cheese was also very good and like nothing I have had anywhere else.

All of the food we tasted and saw was really, really good. This is not an inexpensive night out, but the quality is exceptional. I am so glad we stopped here and we will definitely be back....

I’ve been to this spot probably 2-3 times total. Visited last night (a Wednesday in August), and the place was busy and had a great vibe. The kitchen has definitely dialed it in, it was good on my previous visits but I’d say it’s pretty great now.

For apps, the crispy fried eggplant was honestly delicious, also tried the hummus which was exceptional (pro tip, dip the eggplant into the hummus, absolutely amazing!). Bacon wrapped shrimp were great too, even the slaw on the plate was exceptional and was a great counterpoint to the bacon and shrimp. I literally ate everything on that plate.

For my entree I ordered the hanger steak (medium rare) and every bite was so tender and flavorful. The other elements on the plate (including the sauce) elevated this dish to a high that honestly surprised me, I will definitely order it again!

Also sampled the Mac and Cheese entree as well, which was very good. Loved the delicious pieces of pork, absolutely divine.

As a huge plus, their bar is great. My wife loved the cocktails, and I had a perfectly poured Guinness (which is on tap).

I’m in the area (visiting from the NYC area) at least a couple times a year, and will...

Last Friday I stopped in after work to try one of the new restaurants in town. It’s located where the old Craft on 9 and Mikado used to be. Upon entering, I immediately noticed the dark woods and beautiful light fixtures. It had a cozy yet trendy vibe. I sat at the bar and ordered the smoke break which was on their impressive list of craft cocktails. Loved the smokiness of the mezcal paired with the charred pineapple, sour mix and the spicy tajin rim. Ordered the warm olive salad from their starter menu and I was not disappointed! It was delicious. The crostini that’s served with it was awesome to dip in the olive oily and briny goodness. I will go back to try other menu items soon. This is a welcoming addition to South Street. Go check it out if you’re in the Glens Falls area.
