I have been going to this place for years now. I believe the dining experience here is best described as the most consistent hamburger vendor that I have ever seen anywhere on the face of this Earth! The hamburger that I ate yesterday could easily have been replaced by the hamburger that I ate the first week that the store opened in Ithaca New York! That has definite volume as a customer but it is also very uninspiring! As a person who travels internationally and somewhat widely I have opportunities to eat foods that are really inspired by local spices and cooking techniques and uniformity is not the high-value that is obviously placed by five guys! When I go to Five Guys now I find myself yearning for an opportunity to add some of the spices I have been exposed to around the world and in fact even by different subcultures in my own country! Would it not be possible to have a custom order line where you pay 20% more and be allowed to pick 3 to 5 additional items that would be how did to the meat before it is cooked! There is no doubt this takes more work and different kinds of training for staff but I think it would be a value-added that would draw many many more people has diners to the franchise! Ithaca New York is blessed by several major colleges with large representation of people from a number of countries and I have never seen people from any of those cultures dining at least at times that I have been in the restaurant! The simple addition of some standard modifications as far as spice and possibly even cooking techniques I believe would make this kind of franchise much more attractive to people of other countries and...
Read moreOften, I am excited to go to Five Guys and grab a bacon 🥓 cheeseburger and fries. Today, well, today was not the best experience. I ordered from a gentleman that I considered unprofessional. I waited longer than usual for my food and watched a couple get served a few minutes before me that definitely came in a few minutes after me. The gentleman calling out orders was so loud! It wasnt that busy in there, I was glad I was taking it to go. When I walked out with my order, I glanced at their table and their order looked nearly identical to mine, so not sure what happened there. Upon receiving my order there were the typical grease spots. I put the order in my car and drove home only to find that grease coated the floor of my vehicle where the bag was sitting. I picked up the bag from the top and a few fries fell thru the bag. I put my hand underneath and went in the house. I pulled out one burger and the fry cup. The other burger was so greasy! I held the bag over a plate and gave the bag a gentle shake and the other burger and fry balance came tumbling thru. I was glad I had Dawn dishsoap because I feel like now I know how that poor little duckling felt on the bottle. Hopefully, I cleaned up my vehicle well enough - guess I'll find out in a day or two. Food tasted okay, besides very soggy buns. Today, I was very...
Read moreFive Guys is what other fast food places could have been if they'd gone for depth over breath. The menu is super simple, with just a few key items (burgers, fries, hot dogs, and a few simple veggie/cheese sandwiches), and they do those items perfectly. Once you pay a little more to add cheese/bacon and a little less if you opt for just one burger patty instead of the default of two, all of the other toppings are free. The condiment selection includes malt vinegar for your fries, and there are free peanuts to snack on with your meal. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered at Five Guys, and I've never regretted going there. If you're thinking about grabbing fast food and are considering going to a different big burger chain, do yourself a favor and stop at Five...
