I moved to New Rochelle a few months ago— from the island that is Staten. I live in downtown “New Roc,” as it is called locally. It took me a while to venture here, and there is a mystery to that, for my last name is Donovan.
This is a true bar, with a juke box, and big screens to watch the sports action. It is a hangout for those in the know, who love good music, Eagles now playing…John Mellencamp a while back.
Any bar of this kind rises or falls with the talent of the people behind it. There is Jill, tall and a great listener, the lovely Meritza, a young mother, whom I met on a sultry Sunday, and Jessica, who has got the place in hand as it’s manager.
How could I forget Kevin, a mick like myself, who taught me why the canned drink “White Claw” is manufactured in a way that makes people want more sugar. Smart guy. (My preferred drink is a Pinot Grigio, which they have on hand, nice and cold.)
The bar could get by on this, and this alone, and the conversations struck up here by and among to staff and its patrons. But the food is scratch made…by the Italian guys who bought the place a few years ago. You gotta try any salad with the ranch dressing, which I could drink. Sting now playing…”…every single day, every word you say…”
At lunch today, there was a special that shows someone busted their butt behind the line. A steak sandwich with freshly grated horseradish sauce, topped with arugula. Read moreAs a woman traveling alone, I was hesitant to enter the bar prior to my train departure. It looked a little run down and maybe a better place for men to hang after work. After reading reviews, I braved it and went in anyways. I was met by smiling faces and interest in helping me be comfortable. This place was kept up and clean, even the bathrooms were modern. Frank, the owner was kind and knew all of his local patrons. I had potato skins, very yum and a cobb salad Togo to take on the train for later. Wonderful quality, truly impressed. Next time I'm up, I'll come back not just for the food but to support a local, upstanding...

Love the food! I recommend the mango habanero fried calamari, all the pastas, the wings & the chicken Ceasar salad. The chef really puts his all in the food. It is exceptional.
The vibe is fun I love all the bartenders especially their manager Jess🫶🏻 ily girly pop
I’ve hosted 3 events here and you can really do a lot with the place.
With my growing family I have navigated mostly to the restaurant part but I love that I can still bring our kids & have a blast. One little thing I would suggest is another high chair 🫶🏻 other than that love this place love the food...
