I can't believe I've completely forgotten to review this establishment for as long as I've been going there. The Starry Night Cafe is inside the first floor of the NAAC Building (the former NFHS). If you enter from the Portage Rd door its just a couple of rooms down on your left. Everyone is very friendly and completely helpful. The cafe itself has several tables, is surrounded by art (that's for sale) and beautiful renditions of Vincent VanGogh's Starry Night. Over the time I've been going to this cafe I've completely fallen head over heals in love with "The Big Dipper" sandwich. It's described as "slow roasted cabernet braised beef, white cheddar, grilled onions, horseradish aloli on grilled parmesan crusted Italian bread and served with a side of cabernet braising sauce to dip." Its a perfect description of DELICIOUSNESS! Chucks of tender beef, crisp cheesy bread, sweet grilled onions and the slightest tang of the horseradish. The cabernet braising sauce just takes it to the next level of OMG! It's my daughter's and I favorite sandwich EVER! I've also emensely enjoyed a variety of soups, an occasional special of habanero chicken breast sandwich, and more recently, "The Aldebaran Salad" (grilled chicken breast, blue cheese, dried cranberries, red onion, and house made balsamic vinaigrette). Everything is impeccably freshly made to order. Please visit, I promise its worth it! Support small businesses in...
Read moreOne of the very very best places I've had lunch in a long time. The food isn't "cookie cutter" fare - it's unique, fresh, adventurous. Pleasant presentation. The flavors of everything made my mouth extremely happy. I had a chicken peach salad that was generous in it's amount of each ingredient and the combination of sweet, savory and salty was a wonderful culinary treat. The goat cheese crostini was an added bonus. The chicken was glazed with a peach BBQ sauce which didn't overpower the moist and tender meat. The large bowl also included walnuts, diced red onion, perfectly crispy bacon and freshly diced peaches. My husband had The Big Dipper sandwich - velvety tender roast beef, lightly cooked onions, cheese, mayo and grilled up crisp and buttery with au jus for dipping. Well done, Joe - keep it up! Excellent, friendly, courteous, attentive service, too. It was our first visit but definitely...
Read moreVery amazing flavors & awesome variety, But! -- very small portions & very pricey. i felt it was over priced for the size of the portion, like i was dining in Lewiston LoL! But flavor-wise, spectacular! Addendum 2022 after rereading my reviews post Covid, more stars are warranted. Just had the cream of mushroom soup - spectacular! Best ive ever had. So thick, almost a stew, total umami !, hearty and i highly recommend it for men with prostrate issues. Cause i read mushrooms are good for that. Prices are probably fine, post Covid, all prices are wacky. When i wrote initial review, that was my only criticism, i felt it a little steep for the size of the portion, but still great tasting food, amazing tastes actually & very nice & competent &...
