Needs a FT cop on duty in the foyer. worst and smallest fruit/veg section in WNY. Employees are overwhelmed with high maintenance customers. AND MOST DISTURBING IS THE ILLEGAL PRACTICE OF HIDING OLD GROUND BEEF PACKAGED INSIDE FRESHER GROUND BEEF. It is not legal for a supermarket to deliberately hide older ground beef inside fresh ground beef and sell it. This practice would be considered adulteration and misrepresentation, as it violates federal food regulations. While modern packaging methods can make the meat on the surface look fresh, intentionally mixing old and new meat in this manner is prohibited. Why it is illegal Adulteration: Combining old and new ground beef is a form of adulteration, where a product is made impure or inferior. Misrepresentation: Hiding older meat would be misrepresenting the age and quality of the product to the consumer. Sanitation hazard: Mixing older, potentially less fresh meat with new meat creates a sanitation hazard. Labeling regulations: Federal food regulations require that the date on a package reflect the original packaging date. Repackaging meat to extend its shelf life and cover up old dates is illegal. Why the meat might look different Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP): Many supermarkets use MAP, a process that uses a mix of gases to extend the shelf life of meat. Color changes: In a MAP package, the beef on the outside of the package may remain bright red due to the gas, while the beef in the center can fade to brown or gray as it is exposed to less gas. "Freshness" vs. "look": The bright red color of the outer layer does not necessarily mean the meat is fresher than a darker-colored package, especially with MAP products. The color variation is a result of exposure to oxygen and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor Friday afternoon before a 3 Day Labor Day weekend at 4:20 p.m. there was only ONE Cashier for about a 10-minute time period before a second one opened up and then finally a third but in the meantime (and I did Count) there were 22 customers lined up at the one check out window...... and there were also about 15 people lined up at the "Easy checkout" area. Finally two of the managers came out and help bag groceries at 2 of the checkout areas, which was very cool of them, and they were apologetic to each customer as they put their groceries in the carts.
Overall the store was clean shows were stocked efficiently and all end caps were "fronted"nicely( and what that means is all the products were brought to the front of all the shelves and lined up nice and neatly).
What started out as a possible 0 - 1 Star experience, eventually turned out to be an 4-Star rating.( and that was because a third manager showed up and began the job of a cashier at another cash on station as I was leaving the store so hats off to the management of tops for stepping up to the plate and doing what they had to do to make their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is the only grocery store within the city area of Niagara Falls. It needs to have some very serious updates and more dedication to cleanliness and professionalism. The security guards should be increased to at least 2 at all times, including the parking lot. Panhandling in the parking lot is out of control and sometimes frightening. The store has only banged up old carts because they are constantly being stolen and rounded back up. You cannot find the modern smaller carts with double basket. You cannot purchase a good variety of meats here nor can you find some of the more modern healthy selections. At times, I have seen the meat locked up. I have seen the baby formula locked up. I have witnessed lude and illegal behavior. There has been extremely dirty shelving units and very very long wait times in the checkout lines. In the past year, I have made the extra effort to drive to Niagara Falls Blvd location, Grand Island location or Lewiston location to...
