Update to the below: I received a call from Barbara regarding my statement. Lovely lady who was genuinely aiming to understand my feelings regarding my experience without judgement or being combative. Excellent customer service led us to decide to give this restaurant another try. Hopefully we will get to meet her and maybe become regulars here. It was a pleasure speaking with her…. And no she did not ask me to edit my review. But I must after such pleasant conversation where I didn’t have to defend my feelings and experience! Refreshing!
I’ve been to most restaurants in/near Buffalo so we decided to go here for my wife’s birthday and try something new. The place is really nice. And the food was delicious. I took two stars off because of service and first impression. We were the only people of color in the entire restaurant (which happens sometimes) and the host seemed to have been displeased with our presence. At first she ignored us and walked right past us. At which point I felt the need to make backup reservations elsewhere in case something happened. She sat us at a table that seems to be given to people without a reservations…. When we asked to move to another table and pointed at another table that was given to a couple that walked in after us, one of the waitresses told us that they were sat there because they had reservations (so did we!). It took them forever to come back with an answer at which point I had to ask again to be moved. After we moved they sat another couple at that table that in fact had no reservations (I heard this myself) . Waited a really long time for service and for drinks. All of the other tables were being serviced non stop…. I was a little jealous. Our waitress seemed cold and uninterested in our business at first but then warmed up a little bit after a while (I think she realized we weren’t going anywhere). She did bring us two glasses of champagne when I shared that it was my wife’s birthday. Could have been a 5 star experience if we weren’t ruffling feathers with our mere presence ( except for two other waitresses on the floor that were very friendly). I’m not the type to blame things on race…. We eat out a lot so we have had a lot of different experiences in that area…. But in this case it was very obvious why some of the workers seemed as if they wished we were not there in the first place. Sucks for the restaurant because we are foodies and tip very well when the service is good! Maybe try treating ALL of your customers the same way and train your staff to supress how they feel about different people while...
Read moreI love the French ambiance this restaurant holds. This was back from March, celebrating St. Patty’s weekend and my birthday with some family! First time here, and I was very pleased with my selections. I’m the kind of person who reads a menu before going to a restaurant, because I’m a foodie🤤, that’ll never change 🤘🏼. I knew while looking at the menu ahead of time, I was really intrigued to try the Salmon Wellington. Growing up, I’ve always watched Hells Kitchen, so I was familiar with Beef Wellington and knew I wanted to try that..I also love Salmon, favorite fish hands down so the concept of a Salmon Wellington just instantly sounded delicious to me. I definitely made the right choice🙌🏼 The pastry was light, buttery, and complimented the salmon so well. It came with dill bechamel sauce, that I asked for extra of because it was that good. Just absolutely delectable 😍…this is how it’s posted on the menu: a delicious north atlantic salmon, puff pastry with mushroom duxelle, dill béchamel, roasted fingerling potato, haricots verts, carrots
I also got French onion soup because how can you not. I loved that almost just as much as my Salmon dish. Cheese and onions are never a bad combination👌🏼 the key to my heart❤️
What’s also pictured is a Chicken Crepe that my aunt got. “ - chicken, asparagus, and gruyer, topped with arugula” she seemed to really enjoy it, but I did not try.
Also the classic corned beef and cabbage, which mostly explains itself. I tried a bite and thought it was pretty good too! Not really my cup of tea, but still good!😅
Dessert was ordered, and all together it was a great night, and birthday weekend with family. Pictured for dessert is Nutella crepes, with strawberries. My only complaint with that is the strawberries weren’t very ripe yet, still a little hard but they put a candle in it for my birthday which makes it all better 🎂🥹 also pictured is coconut cake..that was delicious and very moist. Great restaurant and atmosphere, I would dine here again. The server we had was named Lily. She was super friendly, and made us feel welcomed, and...
Read moreThis was around our fifth visit to Webster's. We have had very good meals each time. The kitchen has been on point with preparation and presentation at each visit. I had a steak at the last visit and it was cooked perfectly as ordered...not over or under, a perfect medium rare which seems to elude many establishments. My wife enjoyed the chicken francaise which was nicely prepared, crispy and juicy at the same time. The portion was large enough that she will have some for lunch today. We began the meal with a grilled romaine salad that was fresh and delicious and the baked brie appetizer which was excellent, wrapped in a crunchy puff pastry and served with a fruit preserve that complemented the brie flavor nicely. We enjoyed coffee and an apple torte for dessert that featured apples that were not mushy or overcooked but still managed to be baked enough to infuse the flavors of cinnamon and brown sugar. We would definitely recommend the a la mode option be excercised when ordering! Our service was adequate but did not quite match the standards set by the performance of the kitchen. After finishing my pre-dinner maple bourbon smash (highly recommend, although just a little heavy on the maple if you prefer a cocktail not favoring the sweet side) I had to wait until I located our waitress went zipping by adjacent tables to flag her down for a glass of Bordeaux and a second glass of champagne to enjoy with forthcoming entrees. We were handed the specials menu when we were seated but never approached with further help with the offerings or suggestions regarding the choices. I would say that our waitress was maybe taxed by an assignment of a table too many to focus adequate attention to the minor details that make a service remarkable. This seems to still be a problem for many restaurants post pandemic. Good help in adequate numbers is hard to find. We will definitely dine at Webster's again, sooner than later and strongly suggest that you...
