Everything that I have ordered from there tastes really good. There's absolutely nothing wrong with what they sell. The people in the back making baklava are clearly masters of their craft.
There exists, however, much opportunity for improvement when it comes to overall business operations.
For example, they have a really odd sign-up sheet system to keep track of which customers arrived first in order to help people on a first-come first -serve basis. However, this solution seems much better in theory than it has been executed in practice. Sometimes they don't even know where the sign-up sheet is, other times the overwhelmed employees, forget to seek it out and end up helping people at random. Moreover, it seems as if they allow their personal friends to skip the line (which was frustrating to experience given how long we had already waited).
It also has a really tense vibe in there. The machines whirring in the background are quite loud which is excusable given what they do. However, the employees and the music and everything is just super loud and echoey. It creates a sense of urgency to get in and get out. The problem, however, is that the people working the front are not quite in their groove yet when it comes to turn over. They take forever! This leads to people bunching up in the storefront area with a lot of loud noise and people trying to talk over the loud noise which really kills the vibe. Some of the employees also seem to overcaffeinate which makes exchanges with them a little tense.
Nonetheless, I will go back there because what they make is top quality. Let's hope they can get the business...
Read moreI have yet to try something from there that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed. The baklava and kadayıf are to die for, I could drink Turkish coffee all day, the cream puffs are perfect, the chocolate pudding is the best I've ever had, and the bread tastes like more.
The secret is that nothing is too sweet. Some pastries are loaded with so much sugar (or HFCS) that they taste like diabetes. Tatlim doesn't seem to do that. The fruit, nuts, or chocolate are the real stars of the show and the sugar is there to accentuate those flavours. That's what makes them my pick for the cheat days I allow myself...
Read moreWent there Fri the 18th, 2025. Wanted a cream puff, although I love sweets I try not to eat them so this was a treat for me. I feel like this is another place that does not try their own food. The cream had almost NO taste at all, the (whatever thing it was called) covering the cream was hard. NOT puffy...Cream Puff. The cream had only a hint of sweetness and no other taste, like eating bland mayonnaise. For $6 I should wowed. My wife got a chocolate cake bombed, it bombed alright, another crap choice, no chocolaty enough by a long long shot. She also had the same thoughts on the...
