Capri Sports Bar — Restaurant in City of Rochester

From the moment my husband and I walked in, we were treated with attentive, courteous, and patient service. The vibe of the restaurant itself is simple but elegant, with tasteful choice in decor and music, the latter being turned on in the perfect volume for enjoyment of conversation. The soup of the day was French Onion, which was generously loaded with sweet carmelized onions, toasted bread cubes, and delicious cheese. Speaking of cheese... the buratta was AMAZING! It had the BEST combination of flavors and textures- from the balsamic and pesto drizzles to the crunchy bread wedges to the creamy cheese to the plump sweet cherries. Yes, cherries! They were literally the cherry on top of an already flawless appetizer!! The calamari and accompanying sauce were scrumptious as well to satisfy that hunger for fried food! And the squash gnocchi were perfection. They melted in my mouth and I felt like I simply couldn't get enough! The brussel sprouts were an equally perfect accompaniment. Luckily, the portions of the appetizers and entrées were generous, so we ended up taking home our leftovers, which I enjoyed just as much the following day! I was beyond impressed by the food, and by the friendly servers as well! At one point, our server helpfully pulled over an extra table for us to accommodate all of our appetizers and orders, and also brought over an item I requested to accommodate my contact allergy. Our entire dining experience was pleasant and savored on every level! I look forward to future date...

Wednesday 2/15/23 day after valentines. Had reservations for 6:30. We were greeted and seated just before 6:30 with a nice table right by the windows. Waitress brought water. We left at 6:55 as we had not seen anyone at the table. The table next to us had 2 of 3 dinners delivered 25 minutes before the third dinner which came as we were deciding to leave. That patron went and found someone to ask where their third dinner was. Another patron was angry with the service and had to track someone down to find a check. The table next to us told us to leave as their experience was not up to normal expectations. A local homeless man we recognized from the neighborhood came in and begged for money at several tables, which happened I have to believe due to lack of staff. I have to assume this was a bad night based on other reviews.

That said their menu looked good, the food we saw seemed well prepared. Maybe they were having staffing issues that contributed to the total lack of service tonight. We may try again as the menu...

amazing food. bolognese and canneloni plates were amazing and super flavorful. we were the last table for service that night. I told my server I had a reservation through Resy and she looked at me quite appalled (arrived at 9pm on a friday) Our server thought we couldn’t listen (we’re a table away from the bar area) and was comfortably talking about non friendly topics with her co-worker like how she was going to smoke weed after her shift. it’s none of my business what you do with your life outside of work but if i’m dropping $100 on a meal for two i’d rather expect some professionalism. beyond that, the check ups during the meal were scarce and every time i requested a coke, server would take the order and then yell from the bar if i wanted diet or regular, which occurred 3 times the expectancy of a moderate fancy dining meal was close to none but again,...
