We ordered pick-up using the Slice app. The order was for 2 medium pizzas, 2 slices of pie, and the Long Beach sandwich. Came out to $70 including tax and a generous tip.
That's what we ordered. Here's what we actually picked up which is so disturbingly dumb it's almost hilarious. If it didn't cost me $70.
The Long Beach deli sandwich (which is supposed to come with roasted chicken, bacon, spring mix, pepper jack, Chipotle mayo, tomato) was simply a cibatta roll with pepper jack melted on it. Seriously. Bread and cheese. Nothing else. The app required that you input what kind of cheese and what kind of bread and charged 55 cents for every additional item. It charged 55 cents for my cheese selection (which is what its supposed to come with) and that's all I ended up getting: bread and cheese. For $15.39. The 2 medium pizzas were just pizza dough and red sauce and one had pepperoni. No cheese. Again, all the things that are supposed to just come with it were not included and only the add-ons were included. I'm surprised we didn't just get 2 pizza boxes with just sauce poured in it and some pepperoni thrown in - they actually remembered to bake some pizza dough to go with it. 🤦♀️ The chocolate peanut butter pie slices were the only really good thing and that's because its not made there and can't be screwed up using the Slice app.
So $70 on a whole lotta saucy/cheesy bread and 2 slices of pie. Obviously an issue with the Slice app, but any thinking person who sees an order come through for a sandwich would know this customer is not paying for a piece of bread and melted cheese, so maybe call them to see what they actually ordered? I contacted someone through the Slice app, that rep contacted the restaurant, and we're at least getting reimbursed for the sandwich (hence 2 stars as opposed to 1). Regardless of the outcome, this is just really the dumbest online food order experience we...
Read moreWe ended up at this place Sunday evening because most every other place with dinner options was closed. My friend told the counter person, " we tentatively chose this place because there wasn't much else, but after the service and food, it will be a first choice in the future." Staff was friendly and helpful, and my burger was obviously hand formed and cooked to order from fresh ground beef. They happily swapped out a side salad for the fries, and while I expected some limp ice burg with a pale slice of hot house tomato, I was overjoyed at an extremely fresh, crisp baby greens mix with plenty of fresh red onion, tomato, and a few other veggies tossed in! Wow! On par with a restaurant quality salad! While not listed on the menu, there was a black bean burger option for my vegetarian friend, and it was tasty enough that I would consider a meat-free dinner night for myself. Thinking the one time experience could be a fluke, I returned a couple days later to try the pizza. A great, tomatoey-rich sauce, not sweet, with a great crust. The crust is not NY style thin, but thicker with both a crisp bottom but some teeth in the softer chewy middle. Good enough that I want to get a bit of sauce on the side and dip it like a breadstick. I learned the pizza place is affiliated with the bar & grill next door. Completely different staff on this visit, but equally eager to be helpful and friendly while also giving me space and time to allow me to get my writing homework done for a class later that night. In too many ways to list here, both times staff went above and beyond to personalize their service to my needs and make me feel welcomed. Plus a good cup of coffee, too! I think I found a new spot in the East End...
Read moreSo, I’m posting this for my mother who stopped in to get a sandwich. It was a Friday night so a lot of people that came in were coming from the bars next door and were acting silly…. My mother wasn’t in a bad mood at all and she said her and the other costumers were having fun and joking. So why was it the only person that had an issue with my mother was a worker. Male and short she said. The lady he was training was very sweet, even took the time to answer my mom. Especially when the man ignored my mom. Even ,made sure to walk away when my mom asked questions. He was answering other customers questions with a smile and even gave my moms friend free pizza. Even though he didn’t want to give my mom the same treatment.(when she wanted pizza as well) What troubles me the most is that her friends (who are white) were also very confused and very uncomfortable by the treatment shown to my mom. I’m not going to throw the R word around but the treatment was so unacceptable and completely unfair. I’m very upset that this happened to my family on a day of celebration. Again the worker being trained was amazing, my mom and I very much appreciate her!! But there needs to be action for the shorter Caucasian gentleman cause he ruined and made the vibe very...
