Okay y'all so I went to Fox's this morning for a bagel and cream cheese, and I have the formal assessment ready to share.
First of all, I must say I am so very pleased that horrible pizza shop is gone. They sold cardboard with melted cheese sticks on top. It was heinous. So, you can my surprise and delight this morning when I saw a bagel shop in its place.
I went right in and ordered my everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Now, I used to work in a bagel shop (albeit a franchise), and although I am from Rochester orginally, I did live in NYC for my undergrad. I know a good bagel, I'd like to think.
I went in, was greated warmingly at the counter. Green flag one. The prices were all reasonable, green flag two. I asked about how they make their bagels and was told that they hand-roll the dough, let it chill in bagel form for two days in the fridge to ferment, then they boil the bagels, seed them, and then bake them and not fry them. A+ green flag three.
The bagel was SMOTHERED in seeds, not some measly Salt Bae sprinkling of seeds. I HATE when it's really just a plain bagel with a suggestion of seeds - this was smothered, there was no confusion.
The cream cheese was spead on BOTH SIDES, and I did NOT have to ask. BOth sides may seem like a no brainer but you'd be surprised how often one must ask for that. If I have to ask for that, I know it's not legit. THey did it naturally. Green flag four.
When I got home I gave it a try. The bagel was crispy on the outside and so soft inside. Perfect. Never fried, never frozen, just perfect. Very TMJ/TMD-friendly!
Overall the get a perfect A++ from me, and I WILL...

Gave these guys a second chance and still dealing with cross contamination issues. First time I went I got a bacon egg and cheese (everything bagel) that had some sour/soapy taste that felt like a mix between spoiled green onions and cilantro. Eventually wound up gagging on it and had to throw out the rest. Second time I got an everything bagel and cinnamon bagel and the cinnamon bagel tasted distinctly like garlic and had sesame and poppy seeds all over the inside. Pretty...
Read moreSo happy to have another bagel place in Rochester! This is a cute little shop with everything you need! I'm glad they had oat milk for coffee, but didn't have dairy free cream cheese yet. The bagels were a little hard for my taste (I prefer doughy bagels), but the toppings (lox and whitefish dip) were excellent, and I appreciated they had whitefish dip! (not sure who else does in the area). The workers were also nice and efficient and the breakfast sandwiches looked great. Will...
