Had great tangs tonight after fantastic reviews from friends. My husband got the classic generals Tso’s chicken combination (fried rice and egg roll) and I got my classic sushi order, sweet potato roll, spicy tuna roll and gyoza. My husband said the general tsos was alright, but the fried rice was lacking flavor. He stated that he did enjoy the egg in the fried rice. My sushi was very subpar. I would not recommend the sweet potato roll as the sweet potato was not cooked enough leaving it crunchy- not in a good way. My spicy tuna was alright, the texture and flavor was good, but it did leave a fishy after taste. Surprisingly the most odd thing about it was the rice was dry. I never used those words to describe sushi before, but if you had dry rice sushi, I guess you know what I’m talking about. Thank goodness I also ordered gyoza, because the dipping sauce was fantastic and I ended up using that to help with my dry sushi. Lastly, the gyoza was pretty good, I would say I was not expecting it to be fried as it’s normally not, but I didn’t mind as it still tasted good.
Overall, I have tried many sushi and Chinese restaurants in southern Saratoga county, and northern schenectady county. If you are looking for sushi nearby, with a similar cost check out legends sushi in ballston spa. If you are looking for Chinese, best I have found is china wang in Malta...
Read moreWe were in the area and stopped for a late lunch based on reviews. We ordered 2 apps and 2 dishes marked spicy and my husband even noted "I like it spicy." While food temp was hot, there was barely any spiciness in any of the food. The flavors throughout were nothing special. The sauce on my dish was very sweet. Portions were fair. The waitstaff was polite and efficient but also looked like they would rather be anywhere else. And this is a new one for me: the music. Oh boy. It was song after song of the drippiest, sappiest pop ballads we'd ever heard. I'm embarassed that this American style of music was adopted by anyone else in the world. It was as if Michael Bolton opened a recording studio in Shanghai and offered BOGO pop music lessons. If it had been kept low enough to be soft background, that would have been okay. But it was loud enough to be very distracting. My husband and I kept looking at each other with frustration every time there was an emotional climax in the song that would drive the singer to a high note. We couldn't even laugh at it. Overall, the prices were reasonable for what we got but it made the Chinese buffet in our much smaller hometown look amazing...
Read moreI was in the area and busy with errands when I decided to have some take out. I found Great Tangs on Google and the reviews were great so I stopped and ordered a meal for me and my Niece. The service was good and the dine in portion of the restaurant was very nice. After that it's all downhill. I ordered two General Tso chicken dinners combos complete with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I also ordered fried dumplings. Now, I understand I should have checked my order when it came out, i was in a hurry to pick up my Niece. My order wasn't complete. No egg rolls for either dinner. The fried rice was just plain rice, I was never told otherwise. The absolute worst part, the chicken was tough, the sauce was watery and tasted terrible! Both of our meals were previously frozen and then microwaved. They both had that frozen dinner taste to it. The dumplings were very good, a tad oily though. Then after dinner I was looking at the menu, a dinner combo was $13.50 each. I was over charged for them both. $5 overcharged. For the price I paid for this meal, I could have made something at home. Don't go here unless you want to get ripped off and have a...
