A friend had a birthday party for their daughter there, which we did enjoy, although I have no idea what it cost.
During the birthday party, I asked how much it would cost for me to bowl, as my wife was uncomfortable driving there herself, and considered bowling a few games. The woman working there told me it would be "about $4.00 a game", which I assumed meant the price was per game, and roughly $4 a game. I was hoping they'd have some kind of special, as the lanes were almost completely empty with the exception of the party we were at (taking up two lanes).
My wife and I received a "coupon for one free game of bowling" from the birthday party, so we decided to bowl a game and then go home. My very young kids both also wanted to play, so my wife let them throw a few balls, and once I realized the lanes were shockingly dry, I let them throw a few of my balls as well, which naturally take forever to reach the end of the lane.
When we went to pay for the games, we were a bit shocked to see they had charged us by the hour, which meant that our free game (they entered it as $4 off) was hardly free! (each game was significantly more than that)
I'm not sure what the lanes would be like,l had they been oiled, but I can say that both Spare Time in Glens Falls and Spare Time in Clifton Park are substantially better lanes for bowling, and that the prices are better at both too. That both of those places have clear pricing they'll gladly share with you should be a given for any bowling alley, but as you can see from Meg who commented a few month before me, that is not the case for Saratoga Strike Zone.
Very disappointing bowling, deceitful coupons and poor pricing. Enjoyable birthday party location for younger kids (which is the only reason it's more than one star), but I have no idea...
Read moreOpen bowling mid day is $5 per game which is much higher than other lanes around the area. That was bad enough but the keypads to put in bowler's names or make corrections are unreadable - totally faded because they are so old. An employee must help you since they have the buttons memorized. It went from bad to worse when the lane TURNED OFF by itself just as I released the ball in the 4th frame. Had to wait while they fixed that and the score of the first ball. Then the pin counter stopped working so it recorded a gutter ball when 5 pins were knocked down, 9 when 3 pins were knocked down... I just quit bowling before finishing the game and went to loudly complain to the person at the desk about paying $5 for what could NOT be considered a game of bowling. I have to admit that the people bowling in the next lane did not help matters. One of the two bowlers kept staying on the lane, sometimes walking right over to where I was standing and walking. I understand that he was handicapped but it did not help the already problematic situation. After a few heated words to the person at the desk I promised to write a bad review even though he did not charge me. I immediately left and I hope to never bowl there again. Bowling is supposed to be fun. You are not supposed to leave the place wishing that you had never set foot in the building. Maybe the lane problems were just a an anomaly but I can't justify overpaying those prices for old, worn out equipment at a poorly managed alley.
Apparently lane problems are NOT an anomaly. There have been issues with lanes not working and complaints about high prices in other reviews. I wonder who wrote the glowing reviews? Not sure they are honest and they are...
Read moreDO NOT HAVE YOUR KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE!!! They won't give you what you pay for and have the WORST customer service EVER! First off I wish I could give them a zero but I can't and I will give them the credit because the kids were happy, but so much the adults who observed everything happen. Our host never could be found! When we did find her she was to busy twerking on some other girl right next to a 5 and 7 year old birthday party! I had to hunt her down several times. There was no cups or plates or napkins I had to go ask for them then she was upset when I would go ask another worker for help because I couldn't find her and I didn't want to run out of time. At the cake cutting she wore NO gloves and then was waving a huge cutting knife almost stabbing my grandmother and neice in the face. Her hands were all deep down in that cake no one wanted to eat it, people were literally backing up from the girl with a knife very unprofessional and unhygienic. They never gave my kids a free game pass or any goodie bags where given out and they also did not do the prize spin wheel paid for the all included birthday party and wasn't given it. Then they tell me I need to finish paying.... I paid in full months in advanced but I closed the bank account down months after the payment of the party so at the time I couldn't prove to them I did. So they cleared out the room and put all of our stuff out on a cart maybe because they thought we didn't pay. So this was very embarrassing in front of my family and friends by the way. I had to get my Bank statements and prove I paid which I did we weren't even given an apology. STAY AWAY they tried to make $200 more off of us good thing I keep all my...
