Incredibly Worth-It Sushi 🍣 Buffet in Albany

A fun experience and excellent food. The best part? I highly recommend this place even for people who aren’t big into sushi. There are plenty of options to order on the menu, even for people who are picky eaters or aren’t a fan of raw fish. This place is worth the money! You pay the fee for each person and it’s all you can eat. You get a laminated menu and mark what items you want to order. You hand the menu back to a server who brings those items to you. You can also mark how many plates you want of certain menu items. My mama and I are definitely not into raw fish but we were able to order different kinds of fried rice, meat on a stick items, sushi like California rolls and others that had cooked fish or no fish at all, soup and many more items. We were so full and each table has, I believe, a 2 hour limit. The worst part? I didn’t mind this rule but watch out if you order too much because if you leave too much behind that’s uneaten, you will be charged for that, which is fair. I didn’t order any alcohol but the drink menu looked amazing and had very unique options. Plus, it’s near a super cute downtown area which made the venture out even more fun.

I ordered a specialty roll. The Tobiko was one of the ingredients to the 15$ roll… it came with (I counted) 6 eggs. When asking where it was she pointed it out like “Ummmm… it’s right here” 😆 Unbelievable. So I swear it was like a plan, what happened next. They returned with literally a bowl of tobiko and dumped it on my roll, and I mean, a BOWL of it. Super odd- The fish tasted an off taste like it wasn’t fresh. And the way the roll was cut you would have needed a knife and fork. I’ve never seen sushi with such a small band of seaweed and a puck two times the size of what normally would come out of a sushi kitchen. (I should have documented ALL of this.) This was the first time I’ve discarded fish from any sushi restaurant in my life. And also the first time I’ve been in a bar/restaurant and not had any NA beer options. Reading the menu it also is 90% spicy rolls and a couple of rolls that are ‘beginner rolls’. So I did not have much of any options to choose from. Hoping to find a way better sushi restaurant in the area. Haven’t quite found one yet, and this definitely doesn’t hold a flame to any I’ve ever been to. 😕 The napkins are nice, though.

I was happily surprised with the amazing service at Wasabi. We had a very kind waiter that was very good about checking in on his tables often. He also gave us fast service. My girlfriend had the Beef Fried Rice and I had the all you can eat dinner. Her fried rice was not the best. The beef tasted like it wasn't beef and the rice was very oiley. Overall the beef fried rice was a 2.5 out of 5.

The all you can eat is very affordable for the amount of food you receive. I ordered quite a bit of sashimi along with sushi from the menu. I forgot which roll it was after I received it but in all honesty it was the best tasting sushi roll I had in upstate new york hands down. The perfect mix of spice along with a good crunch from what I believe was soft shell crab. When it comes to crab though, this was my only personal complaint about the all you can eat. On the menu under sashimi it specifically says "crab". All who see that would think, hmm that must just be a chilled piece of crab. All of the sashimi and sushi was fresh and delicious other than this. The "crab" sashimi was nothing more than imitation crab which consists of whitefish, dye, and flavoring. It should not be marketed as crab if it is not. The only reason I was so upset over this is because I'm allergic to imitation crab. I gave it a shot and had a taste hoping it just looked like it was fake. Soon after I got very sick and ended up puking up my $25 meal which was quite disappointing.

Other than the fake "crab" and the anemic beef, great fresh fish and great service. I definitely would recommend but stay away from the beef and "shellfish" unless you like soggy logs of...

tl;dr: Their kitchen closes at 9:15 so get there well before 10pm closing, service is slow and they will straight up reject orders if they feel you ordered too many (apparently 5 rolls is too many).

I wanted so badly to like this place, it was our first time eating out for dinner since last February and the first time with our new baby. Although their sushi was good, hence the two stars, their service was really awful. One exception is that a waitress very kindly brought some rice for our infant.

We arrived at 8:40pm on a Tuesday night thinking we had over an hour before they closed at 10pm. We put in our first order and after waiting about 30 minutes for our food we were told the kitchen was closing and it was last call on rolls, at 9:15? So we put in our last order having not yet gotten our first and not sure if we were going to. We got our first order shortly after but only half the rolls we had ordered. We then had a waitress tell us we had ordered too many rolls on our last call, we ordered 5. So we figured that we'd just get a couple of the rolls we ordered instead of all 5, fair enough I guess? They instead closed down the kitchen and we sat there until about 9:45 before we flagged down a waitress to ask if we'd be getting anything from our last order only to be told no, the kitchen was closed.

It was a very strange experience. In all fairness they did end up giving us 10% off when they realized we had only gotten a couple rolls. Unfortunately I really regret cheating on Sushi Prime 88 as they are closed on Tuesday. I don't think I'll be...

This place was amazing. The food was fantastic and the wait staff were very friendly and professional. Great place to eat some sushi in the city. 10 out of 10. What was not great and professional was the manager and the reservation scheduling. I called ahead for 9 people for a reservation. While we were eating our dinner we were told that our time was up and we had to leave. When I asked why and I was told it was a two-hour time period for reservations. Nowhere online or on phone was I told there was a two-hour window for reservations. I ordered two sushi rolls and only ate two pieces of one roll before they was taken away from me and I was charged for it. My friend was waiting 30 minutes before he got any of his food. When it was time to pay the waitress made a mistake and accidentally charged me for one person instead of two. Instead of the manager explaining to us what the mistake was he charged my friend for 9 people and berated us telling us that somebody didn't pay. Instead of calmly asking us to have somebody pay for the extra person he yelled at us a nobody paid nobody paid. He was very rude and impatient while we were trying to work things out. I also had the card for the 30% discount after coming back for 5 meals. Received a discount because the manager said it was only good for one meal. Nowhere on the card or no one in the restaurant said that the discount was good for only one meal. I still love the food and the wait staff. They will always be a...
