I generally like Moe's...This is one of the few locations in the area for vegan options. I have visited this location 4-5 times since July 2020. I always get a veggie burrito. Sometimes they really give you a bang for you buck overloading the burrito and other times they barely put anything in there. Regardless, one of the things that I look out for is the cleanliness their cooking line. On a number of occasions many of the individual items had cross-contamination of other items for instance cheese in the guacamole or meat in beans or in the sautéed items. Cleanliness in this regard goes a long way especially for the picky eaters, those with allergens, or for other health reasons.
This may sound melodramatic, although being in the restaurant industry for many years it is a small and very important detail especially in a more fast-paced environment. I love that they provide tortilla chips and have a salsa bar. All in all, it is a great place to grab a nice bite to eat. Hopefully a bit more care in food handling can be taken and I think the attitude of some of the employees could be slightly better. Some have been incredibly nice and attentive and others with bad attitudes. Whatever the reason I try not to hold that against anyone there. I certainly will be back either way and that the experience can improve overtime to gain those...
Read moreThe food - I'm going to be honest with you, Chipotle has better ingredients. Moe's has a bigger selection, but the ingredients just don't look or taste fresh, and you almost always get a bit of everything near it because the preparers are so sloppy (I know, they're trying to hurry, but still). The fact that everything has a silly name is cringey to me too, and makes it annoying. The salsas are good, but everything else is not great.
The dining area - just awful. Flies everywhere, landing on everything and every person trying to eat. The tables all wobble violently, the booths aren't anchored down so as you try to scoot in, they're sliding into the people behind you, it's dreadful. The vinyl on the booths is also severely cracked and peeling. The music is WAY TOO LOUD, my gosh, not only is it hard to order but forget trying to chat with the people you're sitting with. I'm 30, I'm cool, I like cool loud music, but they need to turn it down at least in the ordering line.
I'm sorry, I've just never had a good experience at this Moe's and after today, I can't go back...
Read moreWhere do I start with Moe’s Southwest Grill in Watertown? Walking in, I braced myself for the iconic “Welcome to Moe’s!” Instead, I was met with silence so profound you’d think I stumbled into a library. Maybe the staff was on a collective vow of silence?
Undeterred, I ordered a burrito, hoping the food would speak louder than the greeting. Well, the portion was so tiny I wondered if I had accidentally ordered from the kids’ menu. Seriously, I’ve seen more generous servings at a toddler’s tea party.
Hoping to salvage the meal, I reached for the complimentary chips. Big mistake. They were so stale I feared I might chip a tooth. At this point, I considered leaving but decided to address the portion size with the staff. Their response? A level of enthusiasm that made Eeyore look like a motivational speaker.
In summary, if you’re in the mood for a silent greeting, minuscule portions, and chips with the texture of cardboard, Moe’s in Watertown is your spot. Moe’s?...
