One of the worst dining experiences I have had in recent memory! In 30 years of living and dining in the White Plains area, I may have only written one other review, but I was so upset with this place that I had to post this. Here is a list of the problems we had: 1. We were seated for ten minutes and the greeter came over to tell us our car was getting booted! We ran out of the place to find that there was no one doing anything to our car. They later told us that they had no contract with the lot next to the restaurant! 2. NO liquor license which was not advised when we made reservation. 3. We ordered 2 pieces of fish (@$34 each) and the food came out cold and had to be sent back! 4.Our third entree was grilled shrimp but they brought out scampi! 5. Our 4th entree was under cooked (cheese on top was not melted). 5. The place is one room with a tile floor and the noise level was much too high. 6. The service was so slow it took us 2 hours and 20 minutes before we were done. Whenever we wanted attention, our server had to be hailed repeatedly, which we often did by asking nearby servers at other tables. The four of us had a total of five dishes and the bill was $156 Plus tip- way too much.for the food we got (no drinks/no coffee/no dessert). Yeah, the zucchini chips were tasty, but the rest of it...
Read moreWe dined at Anasa in White Plains tonight and enjoyed a delightful meal. We started with plenty of appetizers and some chicken skewers, which were fantastic. We also had the beef meatballs and the grilled feta cheese with honey and sesame—everything was amazing. The server was very nice, as was the manager, who seemed very responsible and attentive.
The atmosphere was decent, though I wasn’t a fan of the plastic flowers. Despite that, they did a nice job making it feel Greek. However, I had an issue with the beverage service. I ordered a bottle of wine and, because I was quite thirsty from walking to the restaurant, I also ordered a fountain drink. When I asked for a refill, I was charged for it. Our bill for two people came to $120, about $60 per person including the wine. The unexpected charge for the fountain drink refill was a bit of a drawback and cost the restaurant one star.
Overall, I would recommend Anasa and will go back, but I will avoid the fountain drinks and perhaps opt for a regular bottle of Coke instead. The food and service were excellent, but the unnecessary charge for the drink refill kept it from being a...
Read moreFood is perfectly nice. I’ve eaten there multiple times at various times since it opened. Staff is lovely.
Issue is with being instructed to go to a specific gendered bathroom. DEAR OWNER (tall older, white male): Check out NY state law since 2021! You aren’t allowed to have single bathrooms be gendered anymore. Gender Neutral. Take down your signs and push your hang ups with what people look like aside. Please don’t tell people what bathroom to use, you do not know their situation.
“New York State requires single-occupancy bathrooms in public places to be gender-neutral.
State law: In 2020, Governor Cuomo signed Assembly Bill A5240A into law, which amended the State's Civil Rights Law and Education Law. This law requires all single-occupancy bathrooms in public places, including schools, restaurants, and bars, to be gender-neutral.”
