I came here September 9th, 2023 so I don't remember the exact dogs I got BUT I tell you the styles of dogs on the menu is INSANE. Its a HUGE menu with so many different and creative styles that it took me and my brothers some time to decide. Which was fun. Ultimate, we got about 3 different styles and they were all very delicious. Yes, they are big, stuffed and they didn't skimp out on the toppings. The sides of fries and tater tots were on point and the lemonade was HUGE and so dang refreshing.
The atmosphere was nice. It has a cool, neighborly, community type of feel. Its outdoors, right near the stream, with some little games to play while you wait, or simply enjoy. Plenty of space to eat.
The staff were nice and cool. It was like ordering from some friends.
PROS: -LOTS and LOTS of options of different styles to choose from -The portions are very hefty and they don't skimp out -The food is good and hits the spot -The lemonade is HUGE
CONS: -If you're looking for something more simple, the menu will be overwhelming and probably not for you -Being outdoors is awesome but if it rains....Well plan accordingly!
Verdict: If you're a hot dog lover, Dog Den is totally worth making a trip to White Plains for. Highly...
Read moreWent here on the first day of summer (the rain did not keep us away). The variety of dogs is astounding ... but, for the indecisive among you, they have a fun spinning wheel to help you choose.
The service is always on point, the place is maintained well, there are fun games (e.g., giant connect four) to keep you occupied during the (short) wait, and it's just a great place overall. I've been here a handful of times before, but it's been a while. I'm so glad this place survived COVID.
This is the kind of joint I want to come back to several times a year, and also one that I hope survives for many decades to come. I could see myself coming back when I'm an older fella, say, 80 years old (will drones be serving us then?) and looking back at the memories fondly.
Also, it's right by the White Plains Metro North train station, so it's very convenient for commuters.
Of course, the real reason I come here is for the food. The Spicy Julius was a scrumptious highlight. I'm an adventurous eater so I'm happy to make my way down the very extensive list one day...
For those who don't like to munch on moo machines, they do have chicken, pork, and plant-based dogs.
Happy...
Read moreLet me be perfectly frank with you...this is no tall tale. The Dog Den is the ultimate in hot doggery... Seriously, though, My first hint of the heart of the place was the spoon load of my wife’s pick, the shrimp and corn soup. Subtle, complex, balanced, savory, substantial and sublime. Whoever seasoned this soup is a real chef. This is no hack hot dog stand...this is serious cooking, with dedication to gourmet-level taste experience on a hot dog budget.
There are a mind-boggling array of hot dog add-on variations, each with integrity, a peek into another gustatory universe, with delightful names, honoring every iconic character you can think of. It took a good 15 minutes to read through the options, with each discovery making the ultimate decision more difficult. It was FUN. This place is fun, and it reeks of humor and love.
And, better yet, speaking as a “flexitarian” (eats anything, leans vegan, with some gluten sensitivity)...I didn’t care, I was ready to pop a Pepcid if necessary just to have the experience the place offers-the rolls are potato! No gluten in the house.
I’m going back, and often....
