DISCRIMINATION!!! THE MANAGER and the HOSTESS HAS DISCRIMINATION ISSUES!!!
My friend and I came in the restaurant with a smile and said pleasantries to the hostess. The hostess just ask how many and I said two. She then proceeded to go all the way at the end of the restaurant where they kept the table wares, cashier’s machine and where they prepare food. I’m wondering why there? The front and middle section have only like four customers seated. There’s plenty of empty tables where we can eat in peace. I asked the hostess politely for us to be seated somewhere with less commotion. She said “fine you can seat there” We sat and the waitress came quickly as there’s only like 4 tables with customers. The waitress took our orders she was nice. Then while waiting for our food, there’s 2 customers came and the hostess seated them in the middle section where the rest of the customers were. This troubled me. Why she sat those 2 in the middle where the rest of customers are seated. Then another 2 came and she seated them again in the middle section where the others are seated. This really bothers me and I asked the hostess if her reason for us was - they want to spread the customers... why then she didn’t place them where they want us to seat initially?! She kept telling me the same reason but what I didn’t get was the last 2 set of customers, she seated them in the section where all the other customers are seated. She didn’t spread them. So I told her that is not nice because I felt she was isolating us and gave us the worst seat in the restaurant. She told me if I want to talk to the manager. This I felt that she was coached by the manager to seat the odd looking brown colored folks like us to be seated in the worst place away from the fair skin customers. So the manager came and I told him exactly my concerns. That the hostess initially wants us seated in the worst place where loud commotion are taking place and isolated from the rest of the customers. He then repeated what the hostess reasons are. I told him I didn’t buy his reasons. Because the last 2 set of customers were seated with the rest of the customers. At this point I am very frustrated. He then told me it’s not their fault if I have a bad day. His words make me more frustrated and irritated. I told him before I came inside the restaurant I’m having a good day. And that he is the one who gave me a bad day. At this time, I am not raising my voice but trying to have a descent argument, he said that I’m loud and he might ask us to leave. I live in the neighborhood for almost 30 years and this is the first time it happened to me. I felt discriminated also before in some places but they try to be a little discreet about it, but this manager is by far the most vulgar. So I took my bag and just said we’re leaving. I can’t take a second to see his face, and I don’t know what he will do to our food. I never thought discrimination is very much alive. What infuriates me most is this restaurant is blocks...

Read moreThe OPH is a long running chain that rivals other flapjack flippers that have multiple locations across the country....
Here they pride themselves on scratch made to order meals with a focus on breakfast as their namesake implies.
This location is pretty busy especially on the weekends and its not the most ideal layout as everyone wait get crammed in the entrance way with no place to really wait for a table
The service is along the lines of a typical diner and its not uncommon for whomever is waiting on you to disappear for stretches at a time.
For the food.... they are famous for their pancakes, of which they have a huge variety to choose from. Even sporting the legendary dutch baby which is a German style cake that's a thinner, richer, and larger puffed up version of its little cousin.
The cakes themselves are really good with this fermented sourdough on the backend of a bite that gives it that homemade out in the country feel to it. Their thick cut bacon is actually thick cut and on point and their home fries are solid af. I even liked the biscuits and gravy although the sausage gravy was a lil meh and boring the biscuit was A-1 n a lifesaver there. That n solid freshed squeezed oj.
I have read some ppls comments about the flavor and its more akin to a bread dough with some maltiness so be prepared to expect something a little different. My only knock is the cakes themselves could have been a bit bigger but overall worth another...
