City Center is a nice shopping center in a central location of White Plains with ample parking (Park on 2nd floor and above, because the 1st floor is entrances and exits to the garage and it's a mess parking on this level). The primary negative to the shopping center are the elevators and escalators. The elevators: a bank of 4 in the garage and they're always busy, so be prepared to wait. The escalators: they're always out of order. Idiotic cones 'block' their use, but let's be honest, everyone ignores them. Why do people ignore the cones and just walk the escalators? It's because the stairwells smell like urine and they're nowhere as safe. The parking garage is completely neglectful in getting the escalators fixed in a timely manner and the few elevators just aren't fast enough to handle the flux of people that need to use them. Here's the work around: for ShopRite park on 3, for Target Park on sublevel 2, for the movie theater park on 5, for Planet Fitness park on 4, for New York sports club park on 6 or 7. These are the floors that will give you direct access to what you are looking for so you don't have to worry about no elevators or no escalators or urine...
Read moreThe one stop to get everything for home in White Plains. You come across people from all walks of life and the public bathrooms remind you that it is such. The movie theater has recently upgraded its theater seats, but the local squatters are often on the chairs by concession. Shop rite never has enough cashiers open, I mean never. Target has doubled in traffic since the close of walmart, but hey... Two starbucks in one building, you can't go wrong. The staff at Burlington and Nordstrom rack are interchangeable, and that's not saying much. Barnes and Noble has been a staple in this city even after they removed the chairs for people to sit and read. They at least have a very helpful team.
All in all, a place you can't avoid if you're centralized in WP. Not the most desirable but definitely better than having to go to the old Wal-Mart/Burlington location. Those massage chairs should have...
