Heard about this place in the Claremont Connect Facebook group. I was starving for lunch so I decided to head over. You can tell this is a family operated place because I saw a little one back behind the counter ((smile)).
The person who took my order over the phone was nice and gave me a precise time that the food should be done - please note I would call ahead as everything is cooked to order.
I ordered the Pork Skewers with Pancit and Lumpia as my sides. The pork is delicious in flavor, tender and moist. The Pancit was a little salty and the lumpia are tiny but yummy. I'm partial to Lumpia so maybe next time I will just order the Lumpia see if they are larger if they are in their own order.
Service was quick and welcoming. There is a 'Take-out' only place, no tables are here... there are chairs that you can sit on as you wait for them to prepare your order. Parking is on the side of the building as well as in the back.
I will return to try some of the other...
Read moreBulan Filipino Grill comes across as a modest, family‑run spot. It’s not flashy, but clean and well kept — the kind of place where you go for substance. The skewers (pork, chicken, or mixed) are a popular choice and frequently praise the flavor and tenderness of the grilled meats. Lechon Kawali (crispy fried pork belly) is another standout, noted to be crispy in all the right spots while still tender inside. Sisig is creamy, flavorful, though not always spicy. Lumpia (Filipino spring rolls) gets great marks. They’re a bit small, but still good in flavor. Pancit Bihon and garlicky rice are a hit. I love garlic rice. The menu also includes items like boneless bangus, various Filipino classics like adobo, so there’s a respectable range. They are working on a platter plate that I think will change the game. That will feed a whole family. Bulan filipino food is a great choice if you love...
Read moreAlright folks! Its been a while since I've done a review. But this one is a home favorite. Not only is it a local eats spot but near and dear to me since it is a heritage restaurant review for me. Bulan is a Filipino Grill border line Upland and located in the City of Claremont! It's small quaint 3 table resto front is tiny and not really an atmospheric spot however you didn't come for the atmosphere here. Its about the food. So, how does it stack up to the Filipino heritage? Its delicious! Crunchy lechon kawali with all the sides and trimmings! You cannot go wrong with the flavor the amount you get for the price you pay. These days you can't buy even McDonald's without spending $15 + so why not spend it on their sisig plate or bbq plate or lechon kawali plate!?
