Decided to go out and support a small business today for dinner saw the stars and picked the Tamale Guy in Claremont big mistake. The young lady at the counter first of all was horrible! We bought tamales decided to try them right there only to find a sticky gooey almost cream of wheat mush texture new something was very wrong. Took them back in to the young lady as she told my husband just ate one today and mine was fine!!!!!! My husband then said I buy tamales out in San Fernando Valley at the Gourmet Tamale Factory for years I know quality never once in 11 year had one bad tamale . From the moment walking in the door that slammed shut every time someone would walk in or leave to the questionable customer service such as a customer being chastised for not knowing that you were limited to a total of 12 tamales this time of year, to observing the cashier make a agonizing face when I asked them to make one of the ordered items to go and finally waiting 30 minutes for our order which was for 3 people as other people came after us and ordered and got their food before us. My go-to spot for vegetarian and vegan tamales! They're ready-made and you can walk out with fresh tamales right away. I visited today 12/9 and even though it's a super busy tamale season they still had plenty of options for take out. They're good tamales with plenty of filling. $13 for a half dozen.
