Despite decent food this establishment is racist towards not only POC but to anyone who is not Asian. They are in consistent in policies and does not value their customers.
RESPONSE: Again. I would like to highlight the inconsistency of your policy. It was not until last week when said policy of DINE-IN has been set in place. Considering there is no advertisement of this policy it seems to me that it is up to who ever is working whether or not to enforce this rule.
Utilizing your workers as examples on how your actions as an establishment is not racist in some aspect HIGHLIGHTS the idea that your establishment indeed has a racial bias.
Again. As stated above your inconsistent policy and reaction to an opinion that was based of an experience that was created by YOUR place of business is the reasoning behind my post. So that future customers know what to expect when dinning at Oni Sushi. The service given and shown through your response may not be worth the cost of the decent/edible food provided to your future customers and before anymore time is wasted on their part I did them a service by expressing my experience to allow them to make their own decision.
There are other overly priced sushi places here in Claremont that will provide an all around experience.
However if my review was to personalized here is a semi unbias review of ONI SUSHI
Food is decent. Establishment is semi clean Ask for plastic silverware Order to go to avoid an influx of price (price increase will not be given if asked. subjected to be over priced )
And to the workers at Oni Sushi, Please do not allow an establishment to use your culture/race/religion etc. to brand themselves as a non racist entity because by this response it seems as if they are the complete...
Read moreFirst visit was for dinner, decided to play it safe and ordered the Bento Box with four slices of mixed sushi, 8 pieces of California Roll, 8 pieces of Spicy Tuna Roll, House Salad, Miso Soup, and steamed rice for $15. The soup was nothing special being overly salty to my taste, while being skimpy on the Miso. The salad, on the other hand, was quite good. Very fresh, delicious, slightly sweet dressing. The dried cranberries added a little extra kick. The sushi was average. Fairly small slices that while fairly fresh, lacked the firmness and delicate aroma of the best sushi I've had. The California roll was primarily just immigration crab wrapped in kelp and rice. Same with the Spicy Tuna Roll. While good, I missed the variety of tastes I've experienced in other rolls that included additional ingredients such as spears of avocado, cucumber, and lemon grass, for example. Rice was fine. Slightly sticky and nice and steamy. Way I like it. Price was more than fair for what I got in quantity. I gave up when I finally got to the Spicy Tuna Rolls. Took those home and enjoyed them later that evening. As for the environment, it was just OK. I noticed when entering that the front door glass had not been cleaned in a while as it was full of smudges and fingerprints. Not a good first impression. Reminded me of going into a fast food joint rather than a Japanese Restaurant. However, once inside things were adequately clean. Service was OK. Everyone just quietly served the table. No small talk, or effort to add to the occasion. Chefs were all Asian, with requesite black smocks and rising sun headbands. All in all, an OK...
Read moreIt's an excellent place for sushi. The freshest I have ever had and I've had sushi all over the country. It is pricey and there's not much instruction, you can just dive right into the main course if that's how you want it, but for me I personally enjoy having soup, salad and a rice bowl before digging in. It helps you get a little full before you start just firing off the quirky names. I also stick to the basics which keeps the price reasonable. Once you get into specialty roll territory, it jumps up the price considerably but if you start with apps and basic rolls like I do, it's quite reasonable. I spent about $34 for just me, thats including a %20 tip for my little family of 2 and a half (my kid only eats California rolls) I spend about $60. If you like the elaborate stuff then you definitely get what you ordered. Everything is so darn fresh, service is fast. Everyone is freindly but not too friendly. They give you just enough time between checks to make sure your good but not too much where they're bothering you. They work as a team. Theres never drama visible to the customers. The restaurant is clean and it never smells. The music is questionable at times, they're trying to keep it modern and it varies from person to person but its not bad. Keep up the good work guys. I will definitely be a regular customer if...
