The bartenders (mostly women) are super nice and accommodating. They are always friendly and have nice conversation with everyone. Usually, they turn up the music and let people dance. Tonight I was told to ask the owner to turn up the music, so I approached him and asked. He told me that he would not and was offended when I said the music was slow. He was rude and disrespectful and said that I should leave. Literally, he invited me to leave just because I asked him to change the music. I could not believe that the owner of an establishment would treat someone this way. Even though one of the really nice (women) bartenders tried to apologize for his terrible behavior, I will not return. Myself and two friends just had the worst experience. We arrived at Walters about 2:15pm and were seated in a back corner of the small area next to the bar. We thought this was great since we hadn't seen each other in awhile and wanted to do a lot of catching up. A young man came by with water and a piece of bread and butter for us. We all wanted a cocktail and were anxious to order. After about 30 min we were getting a little upset. No one had come to check on us let alone take our order. I finally went to the hostess counter and asked if there was anyone assigned to our table. He was surprised to hear no one had been by and said he'd get someone right away. About 5 min later another young man comes and says he's not our waiter but he can at least take our order so he can get that going. We ask for our drinks first since now we've been sitting there for 40 min. Drinks took another 7 min in which point we were offered another roll with an apology. We still have not seen our waiter. Food came and we were all disappointed. I had ordered the combination platter. It was much smaller than the picture online. The Balawnies, which are deep fried, were luke warm and very greasy. They tasted reheated, not freshly fried. The hummus had an 'off' taste and the eggplant was terrible. My friends soup had a great flavor but was only luke warm. My other friend had the Caesar Salad which she said was good, but for $12 she got a very small portion of romaine and a slice of toasted baguette on the side. What I found so disappointing was the lack of manager concern. We never had anyone come to apologize or even offer an explanation as to why there was not a waiter assigned to our table. A manager should have not only apologized to us, but offered our drinks on the house or possibly a free dessert for us to share. Nothing. That is just bad business. One last note. I went to use the bathroom before leaving. There are 2 stalls. One was completely unusable so I waited for the other to be available. A lady opens the door and tells me it's disgusting. I said "it can't be worse than the other one?" She said not as bad but not much better. She was right. Besides the toilets, the floor was wet, had paper towels and toilet paper all over and the counters were a mess. I told they guy at the hostess desk that the bathrooms needed immediate attention and he said yeah, someone else had already told him. Again, no apology or thanks for letting him know. I live in Rancho Cucamonga and have friends from LaVerne so Walters is often our choice to meet in the middle. I have to say after my experience today I truly doubt I will be patronizing Walters...

My friend & I ended up leaving Elvira's Grill to walk a bit in downtown Claremont. We came across Walter's Restaurant & decided to get dessert here. We were seated in their outdoor area which we wanted. My friend & I ordered the same dessert, but w/different gelato on it. The dessert is called a Brownie Sundae. The host & our waiter hyped it up as an amazing dessert. Boy, my friend & I were disappointed. 1st words out of my friend's mouth were "It's hard to cut into." She said it did taste good. She had gotten the Belgian Dark Chocolate Gelato on top of hers. Ok, mine I had few complaints. When our waiter was listing the few gelatos you can get w/the Brownie Sundae, he mentioned Dolce De Leche which I like because of the caramel flavor that u get, so that's what I ordered. But, when the server brought our desserts to the table he said "Who had the Banana Brownie Sundae..." My friend & I looked @ each other rather confused, & then he added "...I also have a Belgian Dark Chocolate Brownie Sundae." My friend said "That's mine." He placed the plate before her, was about to place the other before me, but I spoke up & said. "Umm, I ordered the Dolce De Leche gelato." The server pulled back the plate & replied. "Yeah, ah, it's actually Banana Dolce De Leche." I sighed w/irritation because our waiter failed to mention that part. "Fine," I said. The server placed the plate in front of me, adding "If you don't like it, we can always take it back & give you something else." "It'll be fine," I answered. I have some issue w/the dessert. My friend was right it was difficult to cut into the brownie to get a bite. They should have @ least warmed the brownie to melt the large chocolate chips that were layered throughout the brownie. Secondly, I was expecting a scoop of gelato on the brownie, not a circle that looked like it was squeezed thru a piping bag. Another thing that really annoyed me was that our server returned to ask if we were ok before our waiter did. I asked if there was refills on the coffee & our server said there was. He went & brought me more coffee quickly. But, when I asked for more creamers, he never returned. To me, this was a rather mediocre experience & I don't know if I will be returning...
