Old Port Family Dining came with ample recommendations online, so I went there to get a meal to share with a friend working at an event. We both got fish, but different kinds. My cod smelled so bad in my car that I threw it out. I did try one bite, it was rubbery and smelled like it had been left out too long even before cooking and there was no lemon or pepper flavor to be found. I tossed it and was sad I didn't have time to return it. The lemon rice soup was good, but I had to sip it from the container as their takeout cutlery did not include a spoon. I also managed to salvage my baked potato, which was adequate and the vegetables which were bland. My friend's grilled something, perhaps whitefish as they were out of walleye, had been beaten flat. She described it as light as a feather, flat as a board, and almost as dry as a desert. When they said they had grilled fish, we imagined something juicy like at Captain D's, not this. The rice in the rice pudding was almost cooked, which like almost cooked potatoes, made it almost good. The flavor was nice, but the texture was off. The place is very busy, so I believe they know how to do great food, but are starting to slip in quality and service trying keep up...
Read moreWent there with family. Busy but wait wasn't long. I specifically went for the spinach pie, which I ordered & after the rest of my family ordered we all were brought our side salads to begin. After half way through mine I was told they had run out of the spinach pie as well as the roast. Our waitress brought another menu for me to look at but also brought the food out for the rest of my family! i was not happy that they waited until then to tell me so I said I would just finish the salad & not order so we didn't have to wait for my food. When the bill came they charged me $4.75 for a side salad that was suppose to be included in a meal that they didn't have! I questioned the waitress & she had to go ask a manager if she could take it off the bill. Don't think I should have had to return a half eaten salad because they couldn't provide me with what I ordered & CERTAINLY don't think they should have charged me for it. Have eaten there many times over the year but too many other restaurants, probably won't come back. Waitress was nice but manager never came over to apologize for...
Read moreHello, My name is Jared & I have a story I feel called to share. I live only a couple hundred yards from the Old Port & often will eat there and then go next door to Renshaws to grab a beer. One day while doing this I left Renshaws & when I got back to my vehicle I was very discouraged to find out it had been hit by someone leaving the Old Port. I was extremely discouraged as the damage was pretty severe at a time things have been very tight financially. To my amazement though, the owner of the Old Port said he also owns a repair shop and not only took my car to fix it for free, but also loaned me one of his personal vehicles to drive in the meantime. This day in age integrity is hard to find, & when you do find it I believe it should be honored and respected & I can honestly say there are few people I respect more in this world than Luigi & I wanted to take a moment to honor Him. From the bottom of my heart thank you & God Bless! & to everyone else, bless this company with your patronage. Not only do they have great food, but they are even better people. Sincerely again,...
