Since COVID 19 we are so fortunate to have Asian Pearl on Drew St off US 19. Please be sure to order your take out and get your Chinese food fix so that Tina nd Steven can keep the Chinese food flowing in Clearwater! They are so gifted and we are so lucky to have them. Their cuisine is authentic and the real deal and you need to know that this is not a tourist or typical Chinese take out establishments. Most Chinese places are all the same. They get photos that they place on the wall and then they essentially serve the same Americanized Chinese food that doesn't exist in China. Listen, if you love General Tso's chicken, then order it. If you like eggrolls then order them and eat them. But if I may suggest, when you are there, ask them what is something new that they would recommend that Chinese people love to eat and give it a try!
I am Chinese and my family is Cantonese. I grew up in NYC, born in Chinatown and know real Chinese food real well. Have traveled to Hong Kong and Guangzhou where the origins are. I must say that I was introduced to Asian Pearl from my business partner who is also from NY. He is not Chinese but he eats alot of Chinese food. I looked at the menu yesterday and immediately knew that this place was the real deal. I ordered congee "Jook" with ginger and fish fillets which by the way, if you are not Chinese, you probably would never have had, but this dish is for authentic Chinese eaters for sure. It was perfect! I felt like I was back home. Glancing through the menu I was impressed with real dishes that I will try over time. Service was very polite and expedient. Definitely bringing friends and family there! By the way, the prior 1 or 3 star reviewers I read do not know anything about Chinese food based on their descriptions and experiences. If that is what you want, then go to every other Chinese take out fast food place that can be found anywhere because you can get the "McDonalds" version of Chinese food at all the rest. I am duly impressed with this gem in Clearwater! ...
Read moreWow. Where to begin. Well, I’ve been obsessed with Chinese food for as long as I can remember. I’ve ordered it at least once a week for the good part of a decade. I didn’t realize how good I had it when I lived up north…. I moved to Florida in 2015 and began my weekly ordering of Chinese food and was sadly let down. I asked locals consistently for recommendations only to be let down every single time and not even find ONE place that was somewhat PASSABLE. Mostly I’d end up just dumping my entire meal out after a bite. I’m not kidding…. I tried a specific place on Park Blvd that everyone seems to rent and rave about and gave it 3 attempts since it came so highly regarded but I was let down every time…… here we are after 7 years and I have FINALLY found the best Chinese food I’ve had since I lived up north. The crab Rangoons were actually the best I’ve EVER had, the sesame chicken tied with my 2 favourite places back home, the egg drop soup was, well, egg drop soup, it was warm and delicious but not gonna rant and rave about it. The Jasmine tea was a lovely/delicious and warming ending. My toddler throughly enjoyed it and he’s is THE PICKIEST kid you will probably ever meet. Words cannot even describe how happy and grateful I am to be able to enjoy AMAZING Chinese food again. I’m excited just thinking about having it again!
We ate inside the restaurant itself. The place is big, orderly and very clean. The staff was very friendly and service was excellent. We drove 40 mins out of our way to try it and let me tell you, I’d drive even further, that’s how...
Read moreA good Chinese option in Clearwater. I've been a handful of times now and they've been consistent with food for the most part. It's a family style Chinese restaurant, more fun if you share!
Peking duck with the steam buns - so good! Skin is extra crispy and the hoison sauce they serve is good. Soup dumplings are good when there is soup in your dumpling. Our last visit, the dumplings all stuck to the bamboo container they were in and sadly we didn't get any soup as it all spilled out when trying to pick up the dumplings. House special fried rice - yum. Mapo tofu - yum. Beef chow fun - hit or miss. It's good but it's lacking in a sauce or spice or something sometimes. Salt and pepper pork chops - yum. Crispy coconut milk balls - yum. Okay, I'm sure there are more things we've tried here but you get the idea. Everything we've had is super yummy.
Service - hit or miss. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. Restaurant is large. They have the big round tables with the lazy susan in the middle, so a nice group dinner option. Parking lot is huge, you won't have trouble finding parking. Huge menu, so many things to try. Solid...
