I don't normally do reviews, I simply just come back after the food is great and just tell my friends with word of mouth. Today is my first google review and I have to say this one was disappointing. Looking at the high ratings and decent reviews, when you look for the very few bad reviews here you probably think those people have bad taste buds. Truth is the food is bland, the lamb shank had barely any taste. I used so much salt just to almost finish my meal yet I couldn't finish it. I normally take every unfinished plate back home but this lamb dish wasn't even worthy of being microwave. I'm here now to support the negative review cause this was pricey for regular middle eastern food you get almost anywhere.

There are two options how you can eat here, buffet (limited meats), & straight from the menu. I learned from the rule of thumb on all restaurants, if there is a buffet line inside then expect the kitchen to cook at that quality. Some people love buffet quality, especially if you're hungry and don't really go to fine dine restaurants, well if this is you... then this restaurant is going to be awesome for you. If you appreciate high quality taste and sacrifice giant portions, then this place is not for you. Giant portions to compensate over taste is here. Hope this helps, the beef kebab was "meh" okay, the price doesn't match the quality. All the lambs... not good. Over cooked and rough (shows you can't cook a lamb). Not coming back, not telling my friends. Just this review. Service was 8 out of 10. Took a little while to get my check towards the end but nothing bad. Food is the star attraction in every...

I am really sad with this experience. The waitress was very nice, but I had told her I had a severe milk allergy. I ordered the filet mignon medium well & rice and when I received my food I asked if there was any milk and I was told the rice does have butter. They replaced my rice but My lip had already swollen and when I cut into it it was so rare there was blood all over my rice so I exchanged it for a chicken kabob and tabuleh . When we got the bill the didn’t remove the first meal and the waiter ulysses was laughing behind me telling me it’s an expensive meat and that I should’ve ordered correctly even though I did and didn’t receive what I asked for. They refused to take the initial meal off the bill and claimed a plain chicken kabob and tabuleh was also 21$. Which I looked at the menu and that isn’t true we were overcharged. I went back inside to tell the manager that the way he spoke and treated us was poor and rude and another waitress heard and goes Ulysses she has a problem about you while repeating to me he’s a nice guy he always smiles and grabbed my arm to try and get me from leaving to talk to him which is insane to grab my arm to keep me from leaving. It was really frustrating to speak to them because they also don’t speak very much English which would be fine if they didn’t speak over me and repeat he’s a nice guy when I’m telling them what he did they ignored everything I was saying and repeating look at his smile he smiles at everyone he’s so kind. The food and mostly flavorless which made me really sad because I was looking forward to it now I know I won’t go back. Very...

The food at this restaurant is not authentic Persian cuisine!

Our recent visit to Mirage Restaurant with a group of friends left us thoroughly disappointed. Despite opting for the buffet, which came with a hefty price tag of $27 per person, the quality of the food failed to meet our expectations. The kebabs and jooje kebabs were dry and cold, lacking the succulence and flavor we anticipated. Even worse, the Khoresht-e Gheime tasted more like a simple tomato sauce, and the undercooked peas added to the disappointment. We promptly expressed our dissatisfaction to the waiter, who seemed indifferent but promised to address our concerns. However, our complaint was met with apathy from the owner, who ignored our feedback and resumed her tasks, engrossed in her phone. This lack of attention and disregard for our experience left us feeling undervalued and disheartened.

As our meal concluded, we were further disappointed by the owner's failure to engage with us. Instead of addressing our concerns or attempting to rectify the situation, she bid us farewell with a forced smile, showing no genuine interest in our dissatisfaction. The absence of any follow-up or inquiry into our concerns felt like a disregard for our patronage. It was a regrettable ending to an already disappointing experience. Overall, our visit to Mirage Restaurant was marked by subpar food quality and an unfortunate lack of attentive and empathetic service. We were left feeling ignored, disrespected, and unsatisfied with our...

A friend of mine who has been dining at Mirage for almost 20 years brought us there when we tagged along for his birthday celebration recently. We came away understanding completely his loyalty and affection for this place -- friendly, flavorful food, and beautiful presentation all around. A few things to note. Except if you're there on a Saturday evening for dinner and belly dancing, it's not a formal place. Their decor is simple -- where the artfulness and style comes is with the cuisine. Also, we were there on a Wednesday night, so it was very quiet. Weeknights could be a good opportunity to experience their kitchen and service at their most attentive. We started with a hummus appetizer, which was delicious -- rich, creamy texture and served with a drizzle of olive oil, pita wedges, and savory feta cheese. Things just got better with dinner. I ordered their Barg -- a cut of filet mignon seasoned with saffron and grilled, served with their basmati rice. It came at just the temperature I expected and was so good I resisted finishing it so I could have some the next day! But the best dish at the table was the boneless lamb kabob my fiancee ordered. Best flavor, best presentation, best sides -- our server recommended it and it did not disappoint. Finally, the staff surprised the birthday boy with some of the most delicious vanilla bean ice cream any of us have tasted. It was the perfect end to a perfect dining experience. Can't wait to go back!

Heard a lot of good things about this place and so decided to try it. Middle eastern cuisines are one of my favorite and have been to quite a few in NY before moving here. We went for a Saturday for dinner, and decided to do their buffet so that we get to try multiple items. To start we got the babaganoush, hummus with the pita bread and dolmeh (stuffed grape leaves). They were good, but nothing special. Then tried ashe-e reshteh (their soup) which grossly lacked salt and had no depth of flavor. Then tried the three different types of rice with some stews and grilled kabob. The rice were dry probably because they were sitting out in the buffet. Tried the beef shish kabob, the chicken kabob, and the fried breaded fish. The beef were the best of all of those. The chicken was dry and lacked flavor. The fish had a strong “fish smell”. Tried the khoresht e gheymeh (cubed beef stew in split pea) which was also disappointing. The stew was mostly just tomatoes sauce and felt that I was eating tomatoe sauce as the other flavors of the meat and split pea were severely lacking. Finished off by trying their baklava which was good. Overall, the buffet was not a good choice as food made in bulk usually tend to not taste as good as food made to order. I will be back to try items off their menu and avoid the buffet.
