So we are tourists from VT. We really arent used to this heat. Anyway we wanted to go get groceries at the publix and save a few bucks for our stay. We are living on the beach and without a car it was a 30 minute walk from our hotel. Normally thats nothing but this heat made that the walk in dantes inferno. We did make it, toddler in tow and got the groceries we wanted but we were spent. Our little one didnt want a nap today and after that walk he needed food.
We decided to stop at the Windward and we were blown away by the service. Our server (Sorry I dont remember your name, the young blonde. also a shout out to your coworker with the black hair. She was awesome to us too) went above and beyond to help us. She brought out icewater right away and helped us get our little one cooled off right away. They also let us stash the groceries we bought in their cooler so it wouldn't spoil. Our server was also amazing by giving our little man a gift for the walk home with freshly filled ice water thermos's. Thank you guys so much for the service and food. We never felt a want or need for something.
Others are commenting on the food but we think its exactly what we were expecting for the price. If your hungry and want a solid meal, this is a great spot. If you want to find Gordon Ramsey for thier price your pot of gold is under a...
Read moreUpon arrival I was extremely excited about dining at Windward Bar and Grille! However, my feelings of elation were soon replaced with dismay and frustration after having to wait 15 minutes for a menu. The waitress who was so chipper and bubbly with other patrons, was short, curt, and matter of fact with us.
As someone who was born and raised in a northern state, I couldn't, for the life of me, determine why our table was ignored, rushed, dismissed and looked upon with ABSOULTE DISGUST. And then it hit me...I was the only Black patron in the entire restaurant! I am not quick to claim racism, but if it quacks like a duck, it's likely a duck. My good friend, who was with me, ( and who happens to be white) had come to the same conclusion. In case you are wondering, I maintained a positive and professional attitude throughout this entire episode.
It is my hope that the owner(s) of Windward Bar & Grill will share this experience with the staff and actively seek to shift the attitudes and actions (through training or removal, if necessary) of the staff in a more inclusive direction.
Until then, Windward Bar and Grille gets a big thumbs down 👎🏿 from someone who could have been a very loyal patron and positive spokesperson.
Establishments that engage in racist practices will...
Read moreHeard good things so gave it a try. Busy place full of both locals and tourists. Clearly has a decent local following. But, I am not sure why. The service was wonderful and the environment a good local feel. Yet the food was simply a huge disappointment. The onion soup was the worst I ever had. It was very oily and lacked flavor beyond the flavor of grease. The fish taco, not much better. Small portion of stale chips with fish that was way too fishy to be fresh. The salsa was fresh and quite good though. So after such a disappointing experience decided to try the peanut butter pie. It was nothing special and the whipped cream was flat and like water. I live local and at some point I will likely try this place again. But it won't be anytime soon and if the next try does not wow me, it will be the last. Fingers crossed for a better food experience...
