We had a party of 12 last night and every other big restaurant had a long wait but Salt Cracker was able to seat us immediately. Sometimes the best things happen when you aren't expecting it and this was definitely one of those times. The food and service were absolutely exceptional! I was a little worried at first because our party included some people that were a little picky and some with allergies and everyone left full and and all of us were extremely happy. They had a really nice selection of foods from sandwiches and burgers to fresh fish dishes you would find in upscale restaurants. I personally had the shrimp po' boy snd the shrimp were cooked to perfection. The outside was crispy but the shrimp inside were tender and fresh. It was one of the best I have ever had. Quite a few people had the fish platter with rice and collards and not one of them were the same. They offered different fish and 3 different ways to cook it and everyone loved what they chose. The kids absolutely devoured 2 huge orders of hush puppies and all of their food. The chicken and waffles were also delicious and worth a repeat visit for on their own.
A restaurant is only good if they have a great team and they were amazing. Patrick was the manager on duty and he was a absolutely great. He checked on us and made sure we were enjoying everything but after we were done eating he chatted with us for a bit and we all really enjoyed visiting with him. We were here to go to a ceremony at the Air Force base and Patrick is a also a Veteran so of course we all had to share different experiences and places we had been. They offer a military discount which is really nice. We also had some questions about the boats and he knew all answers. He also told us that they will actually cook fresh fish that people catch on their boats during fishing excursions. I don't fish but I thought that that was extremely neat. Our server Tom handled our 12 person party like the absolute pro he was and each and every request was met quickly. He even made sure our picky eater's order was perfect and the way he wanted it. I ordered a pina colada and explained to Tom I was allergic to the Red 40 in maraschino cherries and asked him to leave it off my drink. When he brought my drink back he explained they normally include a pinapple slice but it was next to the cherries so he didn't put it on my drink because he wasn't sure if the juice didn't get on them. While we didn't expect to eat here between the staff and our food being amazing we ended up exactly where we...
Read moreWent to the restaurant after deep sea fishing alll day as they were recommended to cook our catch and had good service. Once we got a table, the waiter told us he was happy we brought our own fish as they were almost out. During pre service he forgot plates for appetizers, silverware and even drinks. We had to ask him multiple times for the drinks we ordered. About an hour or so of waiting for our catch to be cooked the waiter was sent out to our table and told us that they gave our catch “11 pounds” of different fish to another table. I thought they were kidding at first and then realized they weren’t. His solution was we could order anything on the menu and we would be comped 12.00 dollars a person, first of all that doesn’t even cover an enteee or appetizer at this restaurant and secondly, we spent almost a thousand dollars on our fishing trip, caught amazing fish and they ruined our experience by complete incompetence. My husband asked for the manager who again he would comp 12.00 a person, he let them know they this was not sufficient and to think about the situation and what occurred, the manager preceded to tell us that the restaurant was now out of fish. Again, unacceptable and another discussion occurred. About 45 mins from being told our fish was given away to another table they told us they contacted another restaurant and obtained 15 pounds of grouper which would be free as well as the appetizers and drinks we had. We were party of 10 people and ended up waiting for food for another hour and spent a total of 3 1/2 hours in the restaurant. Even after the mistake, when the fish was brought out we had to ask for plates and napkins because he failed to bring it out with our dinner. It was an awful experience and ruined our amazing experience of fishing. I can’t even put into words the no big deal attitude this place had with such a huge mistake they did. AVOID...
Read moreThe food was ok kind of. I got the coconut shrimp and it want just crispy… it was rock hard all the way through. The stuffed mahi mahi dish was so weirdly sweet even though nothing on the menu indicated it would be sweet. The pasta dish looked like seasoned soup… Everything else was totally fine. The service very questionable.. Rosie who served our table seemed annoyed and treated us like we were a burden or inconvenience to her. Had to ask for straws individually because she would drop it at the table and just run. My friend asked about one of the specials displayed on the table and seeing IF IT WASNT TOO LATE if he could switch. She threw her hand and poked the display card on the table and said “that doesn’t even start until 3.” I got attitude for asking if they had any sauces to dip the fries. And she was very sassy replying “yeah well what do you want?” I was a bit shocked about the rushed and neglectful service considering while she was showing me to the restrooms she was complaining about how slow the place had been due to storms and that she has had to pick up a second job… It felt sort of like a guilt trip than a conversation based on how she treated us during the rest of the visit. She ended the entire visit stating “ yes there’s an auto gratuity but you should tip extra because I deserve it” excuse me? I have NEVER really experienced something this… uncomfortable at a restaurant...
