July 2021: I had a taste for Indian food and decided to give this restaurant a shot. I ordered the butter chicken, white rice, and naan to go. It was delicious, but the portions were smaller than I would've expected. Conclusion: I will have to go back for the dine in experience and to try their version of the lamb vindaloo. Pros: * Tasty authentic Indian food. The homemade spicy hot sauce is amazing with a kick by American standards. * I did takeout, but the dine-in experience looked interesting. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options at the Taylor Road location. The soft, subtle world music playing in the background added to the ambience. * Equal opportunity employer. I noticed an African American waitress delivering food to customers seated outside. * They accept cash and credit cards. * They allow customers to call-in and order food for takeout. * They serve alcohol beverages, if you're into that. Cons: * Portions slightly smaller for takeout probably due to the container sizes. In my experience, it seems that more food is given when dining in at Indian restaurants.

I'll be honest, this isn't where we were intending to eat! But, the place next door had a very long wait, so we gave it a try! This was the best discovery! We have never had Indian food. We always thought it would be too spicy. Here, if you want the spice, you let them know. I had the Chicken Tikka $16. It was very tasty, but just a little dry. It was not overly spicy at all and probably a good first dish! (Next time, I'm going for the Tandoori Chicken.) My husband has the Tandoori Mixed Grill $25 to try different items. He loves them all. I was not a fan of the lamb, but everything else was good. We also tried the Nan and Garlic Nan breads. Both tasted similar. They were very light! I would highly recommend Cafe Tandoor! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful for us first timers! We will definitely be back!

Cafe Tandoor is pretty solid as far as local Indian restaurants go. The food is quite tasty, especially (and perhaps unsurprisingly) the tandoor dishes. I've never seen biryani served with a heavy, creamy curry sauce before, but it was also good (if a bit odd). Service and prices are so-so (be forewarned: you do have to pay extra for rice, which is rather strange). One of the best things about the restaurant is that the kitchen is actually capable/willing to adjust spice levels all the way from true "gringo mild" to ultra-fiery (be sure to put the TP in the freezer for tomorrow morning).

This place just seems to be going downhill. Used to be my local Indian go-to, but will be looking at other options.

Last couple times we had waiters who were working the whole dining room alone, slowly, while the manager and owner don't help much.

The two waiters, the last two times we went (they were different) got out orders wrong, then the one tonight shoved his order pad in our face and argue and blame us for his mistakes.

Missing appetizers, missing rice, which by the way, what Indian restaurant charges three dollars for rice? What Indian dish does not come with rice? Apparently everything here.

In fairness, the food was good, but just not good enough to make up for the overall bad experience for the second time now.

We shared our thoughts with the manager, who had absolutely nothing to say, not even an apology, and then sat there and glared daggers at us as we walked out of the restaurant.

It's a shame, it's local and convenient, but just declining as far as the...

Happy New Years

This evening was my first time patronizing this wonderful restaurant I was very pleased I was greeted with fantastic hospitality smiles and very attentive ...the restaurant itself is beautiful on the inside... I'm a lover of plants and they have many. the carpet is beautiful and the tablecloth on the table gives it an elegant feel.. the music I was so happy to hear from the country of India I love that ...I hate to go in a restaurant of a different culture and not listen to their beautiful music... I almost forgot I was in Cleveland Heights for a moment which was kind of nice to feel your somewhere else... I can't wait to go back again the food was amazing even the water was good 😀this is a place to go for a romantic evening or bring the family and because of the pandemic as I noticed they of course do take out and deliveries I think all in all I love this place and I can't wait to go back...
