Barrio Tacos Tremont — Restaurant in Cleveland

I’ve never had a problem at any of the other Barrio locations before until tonight. Got seated by the hostess a few minutes after 8, it wasn’t extremely busy ~only about 20 minute wait times (I’ve had 45-60 minute quotes before).

We waited nearly ten minutes for the server-bartender to greet us, the only prior acknowledgement by him being a slap on the table as if he was a car salesman. He did bring out waters and a margarita my brother ordered though it was missing the sugar rim because the server did not ask as they usually do. No biggie, it happens. After this, the server ignored us for the next 20 or so minutes, passing by at least a half a dozen times with no words or acknowledgement whatsoever. At around 8:35-40, only having our empty glasses at this point, no appetizer orders taken, not even the complimentary chips & salsa were brought out~ we tried asking to move to a different section and were told the wait would be at least 25 minutes. We decided to wait a little longer. The server did manage to refill all the other tables’ waters nearby, as well as take orders for a new table that was sat a considerable time after we were. The table next to us had their food brought out, finished, cleared, and cashed out without the same server speaking another word to us. Finally, after he walked past the table again without acknowledging us, we went back to the hosts to ask to move again because of this issue.

They again quoted the wait time of about a half hour, so we asked if we could just make our order to go. Eventually, management came to talk to us to ask what happened and we stated as such. Now, the three of us that were there all work or have worked as servers, so we know what it’s like when you’re slammed, but this guy was just blatantly ignoring us for an unknown reason and it was honestly disrespectful and unfair. The manager took our order to go and apologized —even comped a couple items, but not before the hosts were bad-mouthing us saying that they were pissed we even asked for a to-go order as if we weren’t still standing right there. It was just disappointing to be treated this way when all we wanted was some tacos; the service staff really put a damper on...

My friend and I went out tonight to have dinner and some drinks, we waited less than the quoted wait time which was great! We were sat on the patio, our server was a tall skinny guy that never told us his name but greeted us with water and asked if we wanted drinks. He came back with the chips, salsa and queso we asked for. He then brought the margarita I ordered, took our food orders and that was the last he checked on us for the hour we were there though he walked right passed our table multiple times saying nothing to us. After getting his attention, we asked for an additional chair as someone was meeting us. The same time asking for more chips and salsa which never came. It started to rain while we were there and we saw multiple servers including ours take umbrellas to other tables but not asking if we wanted one. We finally asked a different server after 10 minutes as the rain got heavier and voiced how unhappy we were. Another waitress over heard us talking about the horrible service and made a rude remark with her back to us. At the this point we still never heard from our server. When we wanted our checks, I asked to speak to a manager and this group of servers gathered almost next to our table and started talking and looking at us as I spoke to the blonde manager, who didn’t seem too concerned with our bad experience. Visited my favorite restaurant in the cleveland area for a father's day treat from my children. We did have a large party of 8 plus 2 babies. We called ahead to give them a heads up. We arrived and were seated very quickly. Then we waited..... and waited some more. Approximately 30 minutes later I received my drink from the bar. Then we waited..... and waited som more. During this time we witnessed a very heated verbal disagreement between 2 employees, one of which was our waiter. This took place for about 15 minutes, the whole time he was still holding our order tickets! I then asked for the manager and was introduced to Mel. She asked me what the problem was, and after I explained that i had been in the restaurant now for an hour and half or more, and still had not got our food, and had witnessed what had taken place and knew that was the delay. She responded very rudely with "what does your telling me that help?" She then told me that my order had only hit the kitchen 31 minutes ago not a hour and half ago. But that was due to the fact of poor service all the way around. Long story short, unfortunately I will NEVER be going back to this barrio location!
