After a year of searching for good tacos, I just tried Tacos El Cuñao on Lee Highway. I had noticed it in passing the other day and figured it looked genuine enough with its cute little aircraft hangar dining area and food truck kitchen.
Ordering at the window of their truck, the mouth watering smell made me anxious to figure out what I wanted to order from their menu, which included a wide selection of authentic meats. As I ordered, the service was excellent, and I was impressed by the kind demeanor of the cooks and the hostess at the window.
The food, which my family of 5 had ordered a lot of, was cooked up much faster than I had expected. After the brief wait, we got our food from the window and brought it back to sit down and eat. We were shocked by the authentic, full, and unique flavor of each dish we had ordered. From Lengua and Pollo tacos (Beef tongue and Chicken) to Asada Gorditas (steak), each meal was exquisitely cooked to tender perfection. The green salsa excellenty complimented the chicken dishes, while I prefered the red salsa with the steak. Everything we were served was excellent, and I'd highly recommend the beef tongue to anyone who has never tried (or maybe never even heard) of it before!
I moved here from the California/Mexico border, and figured I'd never find Mexican food as good as what I'd become accustomed to in the southwest. However, I can confidently say that this beats most, if not everything, that I've ever had throughout the entirety of the west, and is by far and wide the best I've ever had further east than Arizona.
Please, support them! This was a wonderful culinary and customer experience, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone seeking out an authentic experience as I was, as this business certainly deserves your patronage!
P.S. I was unfamiliar with the word Cuñao, so I asked. They told me it means Brother in Law! Pretty cute if you ask me. Cheers, everyone, and thank you to Tacos El Cuñao for the great meal! I'll be...

Cuñao means brother in law for any of you that are curious 👍
I had the torta con pollo or the chicken sandwich. It was DELICIOUS. Sandwich was made to order and only took 3-4 minutes.
The torta de pollo was Served on a bun equivalent to a large burger bun - and it comes buttered & toasted! NOM! Also came with hearty portions of avocado, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños and chicken that is ground (not a molded patty). To be completely honest next time I’ll likely order with extra meat but plenty by default for normal folk.
Lots of other options in addition to the torta. You have your basics like quesadillas, nachos, burritos. But also more authentic dishes Iike pambaso, huarache, Asada fries, tostados, gorditas, sopes and more.
As far as the proteins, they’ve got plenty of options: beef head, tongue, steak, chicken, seasoned/pulled pork, beef tripe, sausage, shrimp, etc.
I think next time I’ll try...

If you enjoy being "inside" a building, stay away.
If you prefer to have clean tables to eat on, stay away.
If you prefer air conditioning/heat, stay away.
However, if you're still reading, you should go get tacos here. I have no idea if the rest of their menu is any good. I only know they have the best tacos for about 50 miles in any direction. Trust me. I've tried them all.
It's a trailer. There's a metal hut next to it. Order at the trailer, eat in the hut. Repeat.
The secret isn't the meat, the onions, or the cilantro. Those are all great. The secret is the tortillas. There's some voodoo in those that make them simply spank the competition.
Chorizo, Al pastor, and Lengua are my...
