We arrived around 12:30pm on a Sunday (1/6). Not busy, parking available, and it seemed that it was fully staffed. Our party was large (10), which we called ahead to give them a heads up. Went to voicemail. When we arrived they seemed surprised about the party, scrambling to seat us on the first floor. The server there was pleasant, took our drinks. After they serve our drinks a different staff member said we needed to move upstairs, in a tone that was surprisingly abrasive. We all were okay with moving, no trouble from us.
We are seated upstairs and this slender young lady with tattoos on her arms, brunette and dark eyes was our new server. She said she would get plates for the cinnamon rolls we ordered. I asked for silverware to and she SNAPPED back at me, "Well, yeah, I'll be getting you silverware with your plates." My jaw dropped and there was an awkward pause followed with her suddenly laughing it off. "What, you thought you were going to have to eat with your hands?"
The irony was, she returned with plates and only 3 napkin rolls of utensils. The service continued to be terrible the rest of the time. She didn't seem particularly overwhelmed, there were empty tables on the second floor.
The bathroom smelled terrible. The food wasn't even that good, completely disappointing us. The breakfast burgers were ordered medium rare and came back dry and overcooked. The bacon was burnt to a crisp. I think they put cottage cheese on the cinnamon rolls. For the price, the quality was disgraceful.
The only good thing was the beer. Also, I saw a gallon of milk they left out the entire visit. That...
Read more-Saturday, July 30th 10pm. Looking for a cool spot. The AMAZING staff at Prosperity recommended this place.
They have an incredible selection of beers. Also a very nice patio. The music selection was great. The prices were fair. Whoever owns this place has put a lot of work into making what I consider the best place in Tremont for craft beer.
Unfortunately for the owners, it only takes one bartender to ruin all that hard work. He was attentive, but reluctantly. You could tell he didn't really care to be there. Not a people person. Short. Irritable. Rude to the point that it became obvious to my date. He even argued with us at one point lol. The kind of guy that should be working at a car wash, NOT the service industry. And certainly not in Tremont!!
I work at a bar too, so I know the day can wear on you.... I know you may want to go home. I know someone probably rubbed you the wrong way. But this is your job. You are there working AS A TEAM. So pull your weight, be respectful to the guests, and maybe help make some tips??
I would be willing to bet that there are a few people who sacrificed quite a bit to make that place work. Hopefully they can make some...
Read moreTremont Taphouse is an institution of the Tremont Neighborhood. Do not confuse this 5-star review with a claim that the Taphouse is a fine dining experience. No, they are, at their core, an AMAZING burger joint with a PHENOMENAL draft list. The burgers truly are fantastic - thoughtfully conceived, perfectly cooked with that chat crust that makes them so good, and very high quality ingrediants. The fries are also great.
Don't get me wrong, you should feel free to explore the menu a bit - try some apps, mix it up on sides, but you want to get a burger. If something else calls to you, convince someone else you are with to get it so you can try a bite and be happy that you got a burger rather than whatever it is. You don't go to a waterpark to spend the whole time sunbathing. You don't go to an art museum to shop in the gift shop. You don't go to a steakhouse for the salad. Same deal here - you go to the Taphouse for...
