Fujiyama Japanese Steakhouse — Restaurant in Clinton

The parking is plentiful and convenient. Fujiyama is handicap accessible as long as you have someone to open the door if you are using mobility aids. The restaurant has tables and booths all around the restaurant. The place appeared clean and easy to navigate. Our server was stretched pretty thin and appeared to struggle a bit keeping up. The quality of the dishes we ordered was varied in taste, some good and some just ok. Our meals came with soup and salad, the soup was like water with some onions in it, no real flavor, the salad consisted of lettuce with dressing, the iceberg lettuce was very cold and crisp which was nice. The steak was over cooked but the taste was good and the chicken needed some kind of seasons or sauce. The noodles were good but the fried rice was very bland, the chicken fried rice was just rice and a couple pieces of chicken so it was bland also. The appetizer we oregon was the QQ and it was good. This business recently asked a server to cover half of an order of a customer who couldn’t pay (~$50) recently. This practice is unethical and for a company to have the audacity to assume their employee should be responsible for covering any portion of a loss , when they likely are not being paid above minimum wage, is idiocy. This company took to social media to defend their position and were roasted in the comment section. They deleted the post of course and reposted an altered version leaving a more favorable chain of events. Whoever made the decision to have server cover half (even if they were eventually paid back) is stupid. What’s next, having the kitchen crew cover spoilage because the manager ordered too much? Bad business, bad practice, bad ethics. I ate here...

This is one of the few decent places to get sushi in the area unless you head to the Quad Cities! I come here a couple times a month and the food is always spectacular, but the service has seemed to take a hit since the pandemic. For those of you who frequent this place, you'll come to know and love the server Seth. He is outstanding. He's very fast and charismatic. My go-to's here are the Godzilla Roll and the chicken fried rice, but the hibachi dinners are always a good choice. My wife swears by the Hawaiian Roll, it's not my favorite but it's definitely refreshing. Entrees come with a french onion soup and salad.
