As someone who grew up in this neighborhood and used to own an office just half a mile from this Starbucks, I’ve been a loyal customer for many years. I’ve spent thousands of dollars here over time — whether grabbing a coffee on the way to work, picking up drinks and cake pops with my wife and daughters, or meeting clients for a casual coffee. Sadly, after my recent visit, I will not be returning.
I arrived around 1 PM to take an important business call and found a quiet spot on the patio, out of the way and respectful of the space. Midway through my call, at 1:10, a staff member tapped me on the shoulder — fully aware I was on the phone — to ask if I planned to purchase something. I said I would as soon as I finished my call. Then, just 15 minutes later, someone who appeared to be a manager interrupted me again, this time publicly and in front of other customers, reiterating that the patio was for paying customers only.
I was shocked and honestly embarrassed. I was dressed professionally, not bothering anyone, and had already indicated my intent to order. Out of respect, I still went inside to buy a coffee and keep my word. But the entire experience left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome — something I’ve never felt here before, or at any Starbucks for that matter.
I’ve always treated the staff kindly and tipped well. This experience felt less like a policy enforcement and more like a judgment call based on assumptions — and as a person of color, I can’t help but feel there was an element of profiling involved.
It’s disheartening that a place I once loved and supported for so long made me feel this way. I won’t be returning — and neither will my family, friends, clients,...
Read moreThis Starbucks would be fine if the music were not constantly kept so loud that you can't hear yourself think. Despite being the only Starbucks for miles around, it's rare to see many people in there, especially on a weekday when you would normally expect to see students and people who work in coffeeshops (writing or researching for example), the place is a ghost town. The reason isn't the service, which is generally contientious nor even the presence of the drive-through which does sometimes slow down indoor service a bit. It's the loud music. Whenever I try to work at this Starbucks it is a miserable experience, and I begin to wonder whether they want to keep their tables empty all the time. Since the tables and the speakers are all at the front of the store, it's loud where people would work and quieert at the soft lounge chairs in the back, where people would probably want a little music. Plus the speakers' proximity to the door makes outside volume of the music so loud as to render the outdoor seating area downright unpleasant to linger in.
All this btw, is THROUGH headphones. People shouldn't have to deafen themselves to drown out ambient music. Otherwise a standard (and therefore solid) Starbucks location. Very...
Read moreStopped by today to have a girls coffee. Ordered my pink drink and the woman making it was upset when I said that that wasn't what I ordered. Made me a new one and was right. Stayed in the lobby and was wanting an iced coffee so I went to get a "refill" as is Starbucks policy. The girl at the register said no, but that she would ask. It seemed like the guy knew what he was talking about from the little I heard from him, but then when I went back she said no again and that I had to buy a new drink. Super frustrating and I explained to her how it works. She just said no so I left. This one needs training.
When you use your registered Starbucks Card or Mobile app to purchase a beverage and then present that same Starbucks Card or Mobile app, you can get free refills of brewed coffee (hot, Iced Coffee or Cold Brew), and tea (hot, or iced) during the same store visit regardless of the original beverage at participating Starbucks stores. Once you leave the store, your visit has ended and any subsequent coffee or tea refill thereafter would be considered a new purchase. Refills are not available in the Drive Thru.
